VVT Angle and throttle % (OFT)
So I just got my OFT today and have been experimenting with some maps. I have been testing out VVT cam angles at idle and I keep running into this really weird situation. I will try to explain the best I can, so bear with me :)
At idle (0% throttle and ~.20 engine load) I have changed the vvt cam angle (both intake and exhaust). However, when I flash the tune and the car enters closed loop, I see NOTHING happen. The only time my values are ever actually used is when I press the throttle ever so slightly (not even enough to bump the value up 1%, but the rpm's do go up by less than 100). Is there some value that basically limits vvt at absolute 0% throttle? I have searched up and down all these values and can't find anything relating to that. Thanks for any help you all may provide! It appears as though one of two things could be happening here: 1) AVCS is not active because the oil pressure drops once the engine enters closed loop. Since the threshold is (apparently) a higher value than what the pressure is at idle, AVCS will not do anything unless the throttle is depressed even slightly. 2) AVCS is not active because of a neutral switch (I assume both park and neutral are considered the same thing). |

Oil or coolant temp might also have to be to some value before vvt active. The tables you see in romraider or ecutek ect are only the "discovered" tables and their are possibly hundreds of undiscovered tables or parameters thet are still unknown. your best hope would be @Td-d or @ztan |

The AVCS system take a couple a couple of minutes to reset after each flash- if you get on it immediately after flashing, you will see that AVCS is not active.

Can't say I've looked through the code in detail recently - but why would you want to change AVCS at idle in any case, there's no benefit to it? Having a quick look at the code in and FXT rom - yes, the idle switch is checked (along with a whole host of other parameters) which may result in the AVCS tables being bypassed. |
It's more of a proof of concept or just getting to know the system. Anyway, I edited the original post with a link I found which is pretty much identical to this question. It looks like avcs is completely disabled at idle.
