Hankook RS3 in Canada

So fast approaching is that time of the year where winters are chewed up and track days are being hosted and i'm finally in a position where I can pick up some rs3 tires... Idk what's going on but my local tire shop used the adjective "galactic" when describing the backorder... Anyway no shops seem to be able to give me a date but I was hoping someone here could either tell me when the next shipments are due to arrive in Canada or whether they know where a shop may have 255 40 17 in stock...
1010tires jacked up the price this last week relative to everyother shop so I've ruled them out

Are you married to that exact tire? There are alternatives.

Canehda 03-21-2015 06:22 PM

Somewhat. I plan on doing autox and a few track days, I've heard nothing but good reviews for them

fast_dude 03-21-2015 07:16 PM

You won't see them in stock until usually at the end of may and most tire shops around here don't really carry them.

Yikes... Well I guess its back to re11 :(

Ad08r and ad08 have a TW below 200 so they can't be used for autox as far as I know.

wparsons 03-22-2015 06:36 PM

^^ You can use them, it'll just affect classing.

Try tires23, that's where I got mine (back in September though). RS3's seem to be the best value around up here, ZII Star Specs were going to be $400 more than RS3 V2's for the same size.

lol I don't want to be put with the crazy autox dedicated cars xD
Yeah I'm going to check tires23 again tmrw. They've been really good with me in the past

Because of their relationship with Toyo, who earlier this year wasn't sure about the possibility of a 200TW R1R, ASN decided to delay the switch to 200. I believe 140TW is still legal.

My home club is hosting Canadian nationals this year, and I believe there is a sticky topic on the club forum with a note from ASN saying that they will delay switching to 200TW for street classes until 2016.

Ok awesome I guess that opens up a few more choices!

fast_dude 03-23-2015 11:55 AM

Toyo r1r is an awesome tire. However, if you use them as a daily driver they don't last long.

Yeah a bit expensive to be used up as quick as they will through daily driving... Might revisit the ad08 if I they can be used for autox this year
