March Deposit not Factored in to Final Price`
I was just reviewing the financial contract on a hunch but I found out that the $500 deposit I placed at Ira Subaru in Danvers, MA was not factored in to the price of the BRZ upon purchase last week. I'm sure this is a simple mistake on their part, but had I not caught it, I would have been out that money. Just a heads up to double check that the deposit you paid when preordering is factored in there. In hindsight, I should have made this double check come the time of purchase, but by the time I was signing papers I had been at the dealer for 5 hours and really needed to get back to work, so I wasn't all there.
Just make sure your papers are right. |
Did they cash the check? I only ask because mine wasn't factored in either but they never cashed my check and just gave it back to me, or would have used it as part of the DP but I just wrote a bigger check and voided out the deposit one.

You might be on to something. I can't find the check on my banking transactions so it's possible they didn't cash it, though i'm pretty sure they gave me a receipt for it. Either way, they should have returned it VOIDED so it's still out there, imho still an issue.
Thanks. |
Your deposit will always be returned to you. If its on a card they just return it on the card

For mine, they took a check but never cashed it. kinda makes no sense since its a refundable deposit

My deposit was put toward the price of the car as well.

even non-refundable deposits should go towards the car, correct?

When it came time for my down payment at time of purchase I made sure to remind the guy about it. He said "Oh ok, we probably never cashed it.". I told him they cashed it back in March. I wasn't about to lose that thousand bucks! |
Any deposit you put down should absolutely go towards the purchase of the car. I put my deposit down on a credit card and the final sale price three months later when I could pick it up already had the deposit amount subtracted from the total.
