March Deposit not Factored in to Final Price`

I was just reviewing the financial contract on a hunch but I found out that the $500 deposit I placed at Ira Subaru in Danvers, MA was not factored in to the price of the BRZ upon purchase last week. I'm sure this is a simple mistake on their part, but had I not caught it, I would have been out that money. Just a heads up to double check that the deposit you paid when preordering is factored in there. In hindsight, I should have made this double check come the time of purchase, but by the time I was signing papers I had been at the dealer for 5 hours and really needed to get back to work, so I wasn't all there.

Just make sure your papers are right.

Did they cash the check? I only ask because mine wasn't factored in either but they never cashed my check and just gave it back to me, or would have used it as part of the DP but I just wrote a bigger check and voided out the deposit one.

You might be on to something. I can't find the check on my banking transactions so it's possible they didn't cash it, though i'm pretty sure they gave me a receipt for it. Either way, they should have returned it VOIDED so it's still out there, imho still an issue.

Thanks.

Your deposit will always be returned to you. If its on a card they just return it on the card

I totally missed that you already purchased the car. Doh!! In that case call them up and ask them about it.

For mine, they took a check but never cashed it. kinda makes no sense since its a refundable deposit

Not true, my deposit was put towards the purchase of my vehicle at my dealer. The check I brought them when I purchased the vehicle was the OTD Price minus $500. I was never refunded my deposit.

Same thing happed to me at IRA. But they corrected it. Sneaky bastards lol. BTW did I see you on Lynnfield st. in Peabody yesterday??? I saw a DGM, mines WRB :)..... I tried to wave but I was so mezmorized by actually seeing another one.

My deposit was put toward the price of the car as well.

even non-refundable deposits should go towards the car, correct?

You should still check your account. This "handing the check back" business no longer carries the same weight it did years ago. You can cash/deposit checks now using your iPhone! For all you know, it was cashed(surely not, but it is possible).

Yes, of course. Deposits aren't meant to just secure a place in line, it's part of the payment.

My dealer cashed my $1,000 deposit check on March 7. (I was a little surprised, but hey, if I didn't expect it to be cashed, I could have written it for $1M!)

When it came time for my down payment at time of purchase I made sure to remind the guy about it. He said "Oh ok, we probably never cashed it.". I told him they cashed it back in March. I wasn't about to lose that thousand bucks!

Any deposit you put down should absolutely go towards the purchase of the car. I put my deposit down on a credit card and the final sale price three months later when I could pick it up already had the deposit amount subtracted from the total.

that can very well be, i live in Swampscott so i'm usually messing around in the Lynn to Marblehead area. I wish i had noticed the WRB i still have not seen any other BRZ on the rode beside one at the dealer.
