I also posted this in the Canada forum. This guy is an asshat. I'm ashamed to drive the same car (even though I shouldn't be) and go to the same institution (even though he probably goes to seneca) as him.

Teaching Assistants have gone on strike at a local university here and are picketing at the main gates (holding up traffic).

I'm glad the video went viral for two reasons.

1) it spreads awareness that this guy is a pathetic human being

2) it pressures the institution to end the strike, give the tas what they want, or to at least cancel classes until ALL units agree to a deal

If he isn't on here, a significant portion of the forum is sympathetic to him, *Note the driver of the BRZ is in a white shirt with a ponytail, wasn't obvious to me as I didn't watch the last bit at first*

We're a group of people that spend an inordinate amount of time on a object financially unobtainable to 75% of the Western world. That tends to attract the kind of people who aren't terribly supportive of unions and workers rights as they likely got a healthy leg up on life.

It's not hard to find people here with the 'well just work harder' mentality as they drive the car they got for their 16th birthday.

I did not even see what the driver of the 86 did wrong.

If you follow the link to the TV clip, there's more video that shows him physically removing the barrier, and in the first video eventually saying he'll pay someone to knock out the woman that was arguing with him (it was towards the end).

I'm in support of unions and strikes when they are reasonable (not sure on this strikes details so no judgment on that), but if the campus is open it is unfair to stop people from attending and hurting them grade wise as a result. Looks like almost everyone in the bid was in the wrong IMO.

We teachers went on strike for the state university system here they simply handed out flyers to any car entering campus but no barriers or anything to physically stop anyone. Escalation can occurs from either side and then everybody loses.
