FI that doesn't cut into the crash beam?

I read about the greddy turbo kit needing to cut into the front crash beam to fit a FMIC, so I'm wondering if there's a good turbo kit out there that retains the stock crash beam / doesn't require you to cut into these parts, or if there are solutions around this?

I think AVO Turbo kit retains crash beam I believe.

For Greddy kit, you could always buy the Drift Armor Drift bar. Its called a Drift bar but its a hefty piece of metal, definitely gives car some protection, not as much at the OEM crash beam though.

There's lots if you search...

AVO
Fullblown
PTuning
P&L
Revworks
Works
Treadstone

I got my drift armor crash bar today for my install..... terrible fitment... So for the 4 bolts on each side of the car, I could only get 2 on each side to have a bolt through it. I messed around with it for 2 hours... I mean its tight as hell and its not going any where, but come on... they had 1 job to do, and they couldn't even line up the holes correctly..

had what sounds like the same issue as you but then i noticed there were 2 other bolts to remove once the oem crash bar was off, once those extra bolts were off the drift armor came on nicely.

yeah it took me a while to see those hidden bolts also, but when I took those off, still the holes dont line up. I have the outer bolts in. But the inner ones dont work for me. The top part isnt even flush,

Don't kid yourselfs into thinking that bar is going to react the same way the stock crash member works.

I stand corrected. the crash bar fits perfect. I had it upside down... didnt know until the bumper didnt fit. Once fixed all holes line up and everythings good.

Are you thinking it's mostly hype? I can't see either option being great in a hard frontal crash, whether it be a gutted oem support beam or the drift bar. I feel like you'd be screwed either way

Front crash bar will definitely help in lower speed collisions. High speed, OEM is designed to crumple to absorb the impact. A stiffer crash bar could lead to more frame damage, however I seriously doubt the drift armor bar is THAT strong to bend the frame before it gives. People really over-do it when it comes to aftermarket crash bars. They work fine.

The OEM bar is designed to spread the force across the entire crash structure of the car. Pretty sure no aftermarket bar has collected the data or did the needed research to make their bar act the same.

My thoughts exactly. That's why I'm saving myself $180 and gutting mine in a few weeks. Fingers crossed nothing major happens..but Id hope that with a proper crash beam anyway...
