What's up guys, Challenger RT owner, but a huge Twins fan!
What's up FT86! First let me preface this by letting you guys know that I'm neither a troll nor your typical American muscle, v8's are god's gift meat heads. I drive a 14 challenger RT with the 5.7 hemi, but I must say, a secret love of mines is definitely the Twins, more specifically, the FR-S. Yes, I know, what a contrast of styles huh lol. I honestly just love the styling and handling of these cars! I test drove and was ready to trade my daily driver 07 Dodge Caliber sxt in for a 15 Scior FR-S release series 1.0, #596 of 1500, but unfortunately, after sitting and test driving one, it just wasn't enough leg room for my 34" inseam. My knee was sitting at the bottom of the steering wheel. But man, I wanted that car!! So, I get to live my life vicariously through you guys. I've lurked this forum about 2 months now and finally just decided to sign up and interact(I know the stereotypes about v8 owners coming to forums of vehicles like this and trolling, but I can assure you, that's not my MO). I'm a car enthusiast. I love any car that is tastefully put together. And I want to learn more about auto crossing as well.
Sorry for the lengthy introduction. Thank you for welcoming me into your world. Can't wait to learn even more about the Twins |
Owned three V8's in a row prior to this car. It really opened my eyes to what real handling and road feel was all about.
I assume you extended the seat all the way back and tried reclining it a little and still no good? You must be pretty tall >.< |
Did you move the steering wheel up and forward? I have a 34" inseam and seems like I have enough room... Also were you aware that the seat raises and lowers?
Hope you can find a way into an '86 some time soon! |
I have not driven a Challenger yet, but the older Charger R/T's went pretty good. I know the twins won't keep up on the straight but they hang in the corners nicely.
I just got a Black Ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi. I don't know which makes me smile more, the nimble and quick BRZ or the torque and bark of the hemi. |
I was supposed to buy a Challenger the day I bought my FR-S those cars are like sex on four wheels. Nothing wrong with them at all, but after driving the FRS, it was the handling I fell in love with.

Wish we could buy Challengers here in Australia.
Always loved the 71 RT and I love the new version too. Would love a Hellcat. |
@Ultramaroon you want to weigh in on this (both literally and figuratively). If you can drive from the almost the back seat others should be able too as well.

Not quite sure how you didn't fit. I'm all legs and with the seat pushed almost all the way back, adjusted for height and the wheel adjusted I fit quite comfortably.
Considered a Challenger while I was car shopping, but I absolutely hated it when I test drove it. I felt like I couldn't see a thing. Plus the temptation of owning the FR-S after dreaming about it for close to 5 years was too much to resist |
Hmmmm, seat was all the way down, all the way back, and reclined, steering wheel all the way up. I asked the salesman did they make a telescopic steering wheel option for the FR-S and he said no. I could have fit with a telescopic wheel I think. My legs are long, the only reason I have a challenger and not an 11-14 mustang 5.0

This was a pic I took with my foot on top of the brake pedal. I would bump my knee on the bottom of the steering wheel everytime I would go from the gas to the brake. Didn't feel safe and wasn't very comfortable. I had the same issue with the 11-14 5.0 as well. More pics of this beauty! http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/...psj0bbau72.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/...psqtsrkedo.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/...psygp8ukde.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/...psygp8ukde.jpg http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/...psxrfdpk4v.jpg And my current beast http://i1356.photobucket.com/albums/...psj4nf0g4b.jpg |
Welcome to the forums!
I would go back to the dealership and give it another go. Double check that the steering wheel is both tilted up as far as it will go and also telescoped out about an inch (that will give you more clearance at the bottom). I would also double check that the seat is lowered as far as it will go. I gotta say I really like the look of this series 1.0...my local Scion dealership has 2 sitting on their lot plus about 4 or 5 other FR-S's! A lot has changed in two years when I was struggling just to find one of these cars to test drive and there was a 5-month wait list to buy! |
