What time(s) were you thinking Chen? I work in the morning on the weekends, so I'm usually off by 3:30pm; usually I can't make the weekend stuff due to work, but this sounds like it would be a lot of fun!

SubieBRZ 03-14-2015 01:21 PM

Yea I am down to go chen what time the following weekend

We could try and get something close to your schedule if everybody else is available those days.

Also been wanting to try out some night photography.

My buddy said this photo

https://scontent-lax.xx.fbcdn.net/hp...9a&oe=558598BB

was taken at night. I want to mimic it or figure out how he did it lol.

Cooperdh 03-14-2015 02:50 PM

Looks like multiple sources of artificial light and possibly fill lighting. Also looks like long-ish exposure and HDR as well considering how much is perfectly exposed (very few shadows or dark areas, no sources of light are blown out). Also, software was involved.

I'd be curious to know how much of that I got wrong. :D

The orange back lighting. he said it was a neighboring house and no added lighting as used. A really long exposure and I'm sure software had to be used. regardless. I want to get trigger happy w/ this new lens/flash.

Chen 03-16-2015 01:13 PM

There's a graffiti wall in pdx near omsi. Figured we could start there. Then figure other roads around the area. Lots of free ways. So I know well have lots of chances to get rollers.
@thehapaone and I have been to the graffiti wall. Chill place were we won't be bothered

Took these years ago, at midnight @ hagg lake. The wood mill has a ton of light that gets diffused by steam and lights up the area by the dam. These are 4-5 minute exposures. Not great as far as photos go - I was just learning how to use my D90 at this point.

What gear are you using on the photo above?

I would love to go to hang lake again. But it's a 45+ min drive out that direction.

Chen,

I just saw this on Sploid. I thought of you. Watch the quick youtube video in it and consider those tips on your next shoot.

Also, I just read a book called, "Read this if you want to take great photographs" and it very enjoyable. It was like downloading photography info from the Matrix if you know what I mean.

I'm not sure if it open, if you are talking about the building with the graffiti that you drive into, has a chain link fence with a lock. Fyi
