LOL, this car should have came only in manual like the Civic Si and the STi and in the past, the Nismos. The automatic is slower, and it defeats the whole purpose of this car being fun.

This place is filled with wannabe racers and bench racers and actual racers.
The manual will win the poll because of the crowd of people who think the 1 second 0-60 difference will win them a race (it won't if they suck), doesn't mean you should get it. |
Why is "manual" italicized? :iono:
|
If driving manual didn't leave my ankle in excruciating pain some days, id have gotten a manual. But, given the pain thing, and a few other factors, auto it was for me.

Manual. Saves $1000 dollars on the cost of the car. With this car you had better be competent with your shifting. The manual doesn't suffer fools lightly.

The question in the first thread = "What will you get? Manual or auto." Your question = "What would you prefer? Manual or auto." Very similar. More like same. |
Manual for me - it is about engagement. I'm aware that I'm getting slightly worse fuel consumption and nowadays, possibly a slower car (not for the 86, mind you - but many cars are faster with their auto/PDK/DCT versions than the stick)
This is strictly from my social circle, but it seems there is a strong correlation between the ability to drive manual, and one's level of interest in cars. Out of the people in my circle of friends who drive (approx 7 come to mind), only 2 don't really have a strong interest in cars. Many of my friends who drive automatics prefer the convenience, and don't like/understand the perceived amount of effort/thought it takes to drive a manual transmission. I say "perceived" because once you've been driving manual transmissions for anything more than a few weeks or months, it really becomes second nature. |
I prefer a 7-speed DSG sequential in a Bugatti Veyron, if you're buying.
No? Well, I thought getting the manual 86 was a no brainer until the dealer invited me for a first test drive back in 2012. It was an automatic. I loved it. Tested the manual later, they were both the same price, loved that too, bought the AT. Never regretted it. It's a very, very good little tranny. |

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5404 Edit: I would in no way use this as fodder for deciding, drive both, sleep on it, buy whichever one you think will make you happy. I've driven mine in some of the worst traffic in the nation on some of the worst inclines in the nation (SF and LA). The MT has never been a barrier for me, but I totally understand someone not wanting to live with it on a daily basis. |

1. Manual. This was my first fun car and I'm glad I jumped on the manual bandwagon. Mundane drives to grocery store are soo much more engaging now.
2. Manual. |
1. which type is transmission you prefer?
Manual and why? Are you Serious? 2. If you purchase another vehicle in the future, what type of transmission would you go for? Again, Are you Serious?? |
1. Manual
2. I have never owned a car that is not a manual, and don't intend to unless it eventually becomes necessary due to family considerations to get a minivan or other grocery getter / family transporter. Quote:
