86EXPO 2015 poll

Ok, my fellow 86/BRZ owners, who’s interested in coming to 86EXPO this year, or just wants give their feedback? I want to hear your votes/feedback.

Question 1: Would you rather the event be 1 or 2 days? We were doing it 2 days previously and I think it has been going well... but that doesn't mean everyone feels the same. I cannot please everyone, but I can get some feedback.

Question 2: Do you want autox, track, or both? We have been doing autox for several reasons: 1) It's cheaper, 2) It's easier for some owners who have never autocrossed, yet we can still have it for expert driver too, and 3) We don't have to worry about wrecking (to certain degree) like we might on a track. This year, I am look at tracks & currently looking at 2 locations for the price quote. Both locations can do autox and/or track (price varies on which one).

EDIT: I want to add one extra thing about the Time Attack (thanks to my friend who reminded me about this).
"No more than 2 cars can be on the track less than roughly a mile apart from each other at the same time (basically no one is on the track with you)"

So you won't be doing a bumper to bumper race - even if you're new to track racing, you'll feel safe.

UPDATE: I've made Facebook Group Page for 86EXPO. If you still have some pics or vid from the event. Please tag us and please like us. by going here Facebook 86EXPO Group Page!

So let me hear it.

2 days and both autox and time attack. Time attack, personally, would be fun. I hope this is EAST COAST!

Last year wasn't bad but for the second day event, the parking area was too small. There were plenty of cars but with how it went, I'm willing to bet more people will show this year. I seem to remember that food truck being pretty expensive and only having 2-3 choices?

I didn't go to the AutoX event so I can't comment on that.

At least you had a choice to eat from foodtruck... I didn't. Few staffs told me that, foodtruck ran out of food quicker than they've expected, so I couldn't eat :(

BUT thanks for the info. Great feedback! :D

Hope I didn't come off as a prick. I feel its tough getting events together for ~20 people, let alone 200. Sorry on that.

I suppose I could give a suggestion. I'm not exactly sure what the main goal is for the 86Expo event, but something I find incredible about huge meets are the cruises. I think a large/lengthy scenic drive with friends is what it's about. Rolling the windows down through the mountains. You know, Skyline drive is a few hours from the last event and is supposed to be one of the best drives in the US. It's only 35mph but if there was a cruise that was an hour or two long, then stopped at a large park or area where a cookout can be had. I think that would trump trophies. Again, that's just me and I don't know what your focus is with 86Expo.

Actually your feedback was great! It wasn't sound prick at all :)

Main focus of event is to meet new owner, enjoy driving your car & compete s bit racing :)

If you want more answers, then you should probably explain what, and more importantly, WHERE this location is being held, for folks like me who have no idea what you're talking about. This isn't a regional subforum.

Maybe you missed the previous threw as, but location discussion is over now. Now, this thread is 2nd stage to get general idea on how many days & what kind of event. Without that, how can we find out location? Each location have different price quote. 2 days time attack vs 2 days autox, prices jump from $3,000 to $4,000 difference. If we decide on... let's say Laguna Seca to hold the event:.. which means 1 day at Seca price is +$7,000 FYI that exclude insurance. Vs lets say NCCAR, which I heard a several members requested, it cost $5,000~$7,000 this include insurance & for 2 days.

Now, do you see where I'm going with this? I've already contacted several locations, but without knowing the venues, I don't know which location is & isn't in the budget.

That's all

Stang70Fastback 03-14-2015 12:44 PM

So does this have the potential to be anywhere in the US, then? It just wasn't clear to those of us who I guess missed the first thread (link?) whether this could be held anywhere, or if it was a West Coast thing, or an East Coast thing.

Sorry I wasn't trying to attack you. I was running on 3 hours of sleep when I posted above, lol. Just trying to get more info.

If you look at FRS General thread w same title, there have been more discussion.

& yes, currently, there are 2 circuit options. 1. West Coast & 2. East Coast and to find the exact price quote, I need to figure out exact stuff we're doing. This can break a deal with one of track. This is why I need to know how many days & what venues.

& it's okay, I assume you're not attacking.

2 day, both events, somewhere that isn't a 16+ hour drive please!
