What tire you run on your turboed setup?

I know this doesn't belong in this section, but seems I can't find an answer in the normal tire section.

Spring is around the corner and I'm putting down 309 whp and just shy of 250 tq. I don't care about the looks of the fancy rims. I normally street my car with plans on taking it up to Walkins Glen for a track day. Im just looking for what you guys have had good luck with for summer tires to keep traction and how wide I have to go. I would keep the stock rims if I could. I just want to invest my money on practical not looks.

Thanks,

Josh

A wider set of wheels and tires are practical. I would at a minimum get a 17x9 wheel and run a 245 width tire. Any of these tires will get the job done:

Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Hankook RS-3
Bridgestone RE71R
Bridgeston RE11A
Dunlop Z2 Star Spec
BFG Rival
Kumho XS

Lowering unsprung mass is practical. You really don't want to run wider than 225 on the OEM wheels.

Thanks for the info. My first rwd car. Use to awd. Just didn't want to invest into something I didn't need. I'll have to look at the wheel directory to make sure for clearances. Thanks guys. A turboed brz is just crazy fast for how light this car is.

I'll be honest, the stock tires with 360whp were actually very fun and provided decent grip after second gear. My only issue with them is they're noisey at the limit and expensive to replace. I have 235's on the stock rims now and have no issues but I do need to get rid of some camber in the rear due to lowering it.

235s on stock rims. you have any pics. Would like to see what it looks like. I would think it wouldn't fit to well.

I am on the same boat as you. I don't mind the stock rims look, and If anything I could just plasti dip them to change the way it looks. But i was going to do Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tire - 225/45R17 94Z XL tires. I'm pretty sure these will fit on the stock rims.

Can anyone confirm this for me?
