IT Department Humor

I know a lot of us work in IT. Well, this trouble ticket came in today and I cant help but share it. Enjoy!

Call ID Details:
Call Subject : Server for Internet
Call ID Category:Distributed Systems
Call ID Type: DS Application
Call ID Description:
I am having a difficult time doing a portion of my job due to our server being old and not aligning with other websites. I am ordering from Chick-Fil-A today and am unable to get online to look at the menu due to the old server. This has happened numerous times and Xxxxx Xxxxxxx, Director of HR, just pulled it up on her computer.

I need someone to check what server my internet is using and update or assist with finding another server to use that will accommodate my job responsibilities.

We updated our server for internet awhile ago. Clearly you guys are slacking.

I work for a private company that specializes in education. We manage school district networks. The shit I see is insane. The even scarier part is; is that these people teach our children.

Yeah, I have no idea what she is talking about. We lease all servers and switches/routers/WAPs, renewing every three years. She is one of our problem users, always a phantom problem that is fixed by the time you walk to her desk, or just plain technical ineptitude. She is the Executive Admin, that should explain everything!

Luckily some of the administrators I deal with are not all that bad. There are a few however that if you do not jump when they say jump, you'll get a proposal from a competing company thrown your way as some sort of nonchalant threat.

I did computer programming, networking and repair during high school. It was a dual enrollment program. I since decided retail management was easier. People are just as dumb but at least I don't have to respond to anymore unplugged keyboards, or computers. Or my personal fav, the Internet isnt working. Is the Ethernet cable plugged in? That desktop is not wireless...

Also never understood how people could "loose" so many keys off a damn keyboard.

She's thinking it is the servers when it is actually her computer. Something is incompatible with the web site she is trying to access. Could be an old version of IE, or using an incompatible browser like Chrome or Mozilla, or it could be an out of date Java or Flash Player.

InspGadgt 03-11-2015 02:35 PM

Some of our clients use Macbook laptops. The software they use is PC based and doesn't work with parallels so we have to load Boot Camp and Windows 7 to make them work for the client. The last time they needed to upgrade I asked why not just get a PC based laptop for a lot less money. The response was, well Macs don't get viruses...

The fact that I only see a broken image link there is hilarious in this context.

Ya what are the odds.
Just imagine a nice 486 with a green monochromatic screen!
I appreciate the irony too much to fix it.

This is priceless. I'm glad I don't get those emails anymore.

Good troubleshooting skills there. It turns out, portions of the site don't work with IE9.
