Can someone school me on camber bolts lol
Hey guys
so I recently bought some wheels and the coil overs I have: wheels: volk te37sl 18x9.5 offset +40 square set up coil overs: kwv3 with stock top mounts I recently installed the wheels and noticed that the front wheels and popping out a little too much past the fender. I am afraid of hitting a really deep pot hole when driving and messing up the fender. I was told to adjust the camber but I really don't want to buy camber plates and someone mentioned I can just use camber bolts. Can someone help me decide on what to do? Thanks! |
do some searching, seriously type in "ft86 camber bolts" into google. i can help if needed. I understand the internetz is pretty hard
you can use oem smaller bolts, spc, or whiteline bolts. You only need one set and they give you about up to -2 or so. You can also double up on them i think (use them for top and bottom) and get maybe another degree or two Heres a thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22201 and heres a thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38616 and heres another thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44660 and another ermahgawd http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12854 |
i think the kw's are also slotted in the bolt hole, so it can provide a bit extra. not sure though as i dont have kw's myself but i think ive seen pictures of them slotted.

If the upper hole is slotted DO NOT use spc or white line lobed bolts as they are more prone to slipping.

if they're not slotted, just get camber bolts and have the alignment shop adjust with that. |

It looks like the kW is slotted from what i read so you may even get what you want as is even. Try loosening the upper strut bolt and pushing in before tightening and see how close you get looks wise. If it isn't close then get crash bolts before taking it in.

@scottxnizzle I got the spc camber bolts installed on mine and I like em. It was a cheap solution for only $25 and gave me an extra -1.75 camber and after alighnment I have -2 all the way around which is perfect.

is additional camber needed for the casual driver? or is it mostly to tuck in the wheel for a more pleasing appearance?
