AE86 or FRS/BRZ
So I need help deciding between buying my old AE86 that I sold about 5 years ago or just getting the frs. I sold it back then cause I was still living with my parents and it was just sitting cause it needed some work. Sold it cause parents weren't happy with it sitting in the driveway and I didn't want it to rot away. Years later I quickly realize I don't care for fwd. the guy I sold it to has it for sale. I don't know if I should buy it back or just move on and get the frs/brz.

Can you afford a car payment? If not, get the AE86.
Do you need a dependable and comfortable daily driver? If yes, get the FT It's one thing to say "With the difference in money, I could make the AE out-perform the FT in every way." It's another to actually DO it. Do you believe that you will? If not, get the FT. |
Ugh, I think it's clear to go new.
If you can afford it yes, if you can't, which I assume you may not be able to, since your posing this question. |

Car payments isn't the issue, I think it what you just mentioned Draco, I want to do the work on the car but I don't know if I actually will. It just I have missed that car ever since I sold it so I was going to buy the frs to fill that void but when I found out the guy was selling my old 86 it made me just wonder what should I do. But I think new may be the best route. Thanks for the help guys

If you didnt fall in love with the ae86 the first time around then it probably isnt for you.

Whatever you like man, I have owned several AE86s, and I plan to get another, however as of now I have my 75 and 77 Celicas sitting in the garage.
The FRS is going to be my new daily so I can work on said projects. If your 86 is in good running condition then I would say sure, but if you need it as a daily, and your unsure of the condition its in, it is sometimes more expensive in the short run then it is in the long run to fix and older car. |
Depends on what condition the AE86 is in and how much you're paying for it. This is how I look at it: They're going to be making the FRS/BRZ for at least 4-5 years and they will keep improving the car and keep working on the bugs in the next few years. The longer you wait, the better the car is going to be. The AE86 on the other hand is getting more rare by the day. I would buy the AE86 and keep saving money for the FRS/BRZ.

The FR-S/BRZ will be cheaper. Trust me, I have two AE86's. :sigh: Any 25 year old car requires a lot of maintenance in order to be reliable as a daily driver.

FR-S\BRZ bro!
|
As a daily driver or only car... I'd get the new car if you can afford it.
|
It depends if the guy took care of the Corolla
|
You cant go to a dealership and buy sentiment; if you've missed the car and you know its worth the money then buy it and spend time doing it right.
|
I dunno dude. The frs/brz is a pretty close replacement.
