What do you use in place of a chamois? Also, regarding marring, I didn't see any of that.

I'll post pictures later. It started raining buckets this morning and will continue raining for a couple of days. A touch-up will be in order...

Better use Mf towels like cobra guzzler. Much effective to dry your car ans safer.

You remind me of when I first started lol.

Years later and I'm still learning.

No need for two layers of wax, one will do if you apply it correctly. Your paint can only take in so much.

My general rule of thumb for a full detail is clay bar (with plenty of lubricant - spray detailer), polish, sealant wax, then for that extra "pop", pure carnauba wax.

I personally use Mothers clay bar and Mothers showtime detailer, then Meguiars Ultimate Polish, then Meguiars #21 sealant, then Mothers Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax.

I've tried other brands like Turtle Wax, but they just seem too weak or watered down. I really have tried them all in the past. And two layers of wax isn't exactly necessary if you use a sealant, but I think it makes it "pop" just a bit more, especially if you have a brighter color like your burnt orange.

I agree, the second coat of carnauba does make the color pop. I think it may be the slight yellowish tint to the wax; maybe it helps to bring out the orange more.

I agree, the purpose of layering is to balance the shine of the paint. If you would observe add sealant will make the paint like plastic and adding wax will deepen the shine.

Never use a chamois... And claying the car should only be used before polish since it causes marring to the clear coat.

This is not true!

Polymer Rubber Clay does not marr like traditional clay bars.

A leaf blower also works great for getting the water out of all the little cracks so it doesn't drip later and leave spots and streaks.

I completely agree with this. I have used Mother's yellow clay bar several times on my pearl white BRZ and a metallic silver TSX without a follow-up polish, and the paint turns out beautiful every time. Zero swirls, spotless glass-like shine no matter what angle or lighting I look at the car.

The purpose of claying the paint is to remove the debris and old wax/polishes. We would like to prep the paint before dong any polishing or sealing.
