Radio shutting off/resetting itself while driving

So I may have figured out that it is a phone issue but im curious to know if anyone else has encountered this issue..

I will be driving on normal roads, no canyons, bumps, agressive stops or agressive turns and my radio will randomly reset itself, sometimes it takes longer to turn back on than others. I have somewhat narrowed it down to being a glitch in a music app (most likely 8tracks). The app doesnt seem to be open most of the time this issue happens so it may not be this. It seems to be that when I reset my iphone the radio stops resetting itself.

Has anybody had this issue or heard of this type of issue?

Not on iPhone. I have seen code issues on Android though. Usually recommend using a main stream / well supported player. Tbh idk iPhone well enough to comment on its interfaces. Is this over bt or plugged in, or both? I would be surprised if this happens on bt.

This has only happened to me once. Just a couple months after buying my BRZ, my head unit randomly blacked out while driving and turned back on with all the settings reset. Never happened again though. Didn't hit any bumps, wasn't recently through a car wash. I don't think anything was plugged into the USB port. Maybe a USB drive with music, but not a phone.

i only run my phone thru bt, and i have a usb drive plugged in with music and videos on it but this issue has happened more before i ever plugged in the usb drive and i have never had my phone plugged in. the other night it kept happening over and over, maybe 5 or 6 times in a 20 min drive but as soon as i restarted my phone the issue stopped but i didnt have any apps open, even in the background.

I've had my head unit reboot twice since i've had the vehicle while driving, with the radio on. phone was not on, USB connected but not in use.

I've only had this happen when listening to music on a USB drive.

Same. I'm using a 64GB memory stick and I've heard that the head unit isn't supposed to support flash drives with that much memory.
