An affordable, track-ready car after a few minor mods... I'm not talking about the GTRs, McLarens, high-end Porsches and Audis. However, I do think it has to be feasible to put enough reliable power in an 86 to challenge the American muscle that handle like boats on the track.

Just my opinions and personal dreams for this platform... you can only smoke so many civics and kia fortes before you want to establish yourself as a true competitor in the sports car world.

Yeah, but you look at the GTS class and those entrants are a cut above this car in terms of power, cost of street car, etc.

Boss 302
Z28
Cayman
Optima
Vantage

It's hard to see a 200hp, $25K car competing with those that started with twice the power and twice or more the cost.

The next races for the Brass Monkey Racing FRS are May 15-May 17 on world challenge tv.

Yes! The next race is actually not too far from me. I am thinking about going to cheer on Tony.

I actually think competing in GTS is doable. The car just needs more developement to iron out the kinks and it should be competitive. Hell, even those damn Optimas are putting a good fight in that class. They're also fully funded by Kia though.

Scion America needs to get in on this. I'm pretty pissed they have nothing to show for in the wheel to wheel racing area besides their failed attempt in GTS with KSR.

The TC/TCA class is exactly where the FRS belongs. It looks right at home there. I'm glad to see it and a few more join the ranks.

If I had the dough, this is path I would take for my FRS. Prep to TCA and run PWC.

I haven't looked at the math, but I suspect if you look at the power to weight ratio of the other GTS cars, they are a lot better stock than our little 86. It's a ton easier to make a race car out of something already powerful for the class than it is trying to make it more powerful and staying light at the same time.

Get a pit pass and go in and shake the man's hand for us. I have half a notion to fly back up to Ohio for the Mid-Ohio race in August to do the same. My sons and I have done the Mid-Ohio races annually for years but now we are starting a new tradition of doing Daytona races. Unfortunately, no Pirelli World Challenge races at Daytona.

Damn, the races are on long weekend here in Canada. Still on the fence as to whether I should go...

Sadly, it appears that Tony Rivera has not entered his FR-S in the Canadian rounds of the Pirelli World Challenge TCA class.

I do not know if registration for entry in the races are final or not but he does not appear on the list of drivers entered for the races.
@DeliciousTuning Any idea what happened?

What? But he's doing so well...does that mean he'll drop big time in points after these races are held?

Yeah, with 3 races there this is going to kill him in the driver's championship standings. Maybe he does not have the budget to travel that far?

Well I was willing to pitch in with funding, and so were many others, but we never heard anything from his camp.

To be honest I am not sure what his schedule is. I do know he has just moved to a new state and probably getting all settled in, in his new place and new shop I believe. So that might be taking up a fair amount of time.

I am sure we will be speaking to him soon.

Cheers,

Does anyone have a link to the race back in March, where Tony won?
