Watkins Glen HPDE - 4/25/15 - 4/28/15

Anyone going to the HPDE events on 4/25 + 4/26 with trackmasters or 4/27 + 4/28 with NASA? I will be there from Sunday to Tuesday and will be running with NASA. They are re-paving the track this year so there aren't to many events so register while you can.

We'll be up there May 18 and 19. Looking forward to seeing what the track is like post-paving. Hoping for VIR-like results!

What company do you track with? I didn't know there was a May event

Anyone that's interested in Subaru or the BRZ stop by and see me and check out my car, I should have time to give some hotlaps. Also I am a Subaru Ambassador so I'll have some free swag to give away.

I will be there. Being the chief instructor, I am looking forward to seeing what you have done to your BRZ.

Hey Takumi,

I'll be driving with Trackmasters as an intermediate school student on April 25th and 26th, and I'm also signed up to drive with them again at WGI in June.

When will you be in town on Sunday and are you planning on going to the track that day to spectate?

Make any big changes to your FRS since we last spoke at the NASA event last year?

I will be there for trackmasters but will not be participating just helping out a friend that will be.

Not really, just Oil cooler, Ft86 speedfactory front splitter, Hawk hp+ pads, slotted rotors, Openflash tablet (running stage 1 93oct now. Hoping my header gets here soon so I can run stage 2 uel 93 oct), Radium oil catch can, and flushed the trans and diff fluid. I also may have a new wheel/tire setup by then but still unsure.

How about you?

Rescodna 03-19-2015 03:35 PM

Good call on the oil cooler - when I first tracked my BRZ in 2013 I didn't have one and I logged some scary-high oil temps. Which cooler did you end up getting?

Existing mods I had last year:
StopTech Street Performance pads
StopTech stainless steel brake lines
Perrin brake master cylinder brace
Perrin oil cooler
OpenFlash Tablet (Stage 1 91 octane)
Radium catch can (PVC only)
Washable panel air filter

To-do List:
Install StopTech slotted rotors and new brake pads - I've got them and just need to install them on a nice day
Change transmission, diff, and brake fluids - mid-April appointment made with Cantech
Flash updated OFT tune and adjust MAF scaling as necessary

I'm also trying to get my hands on some strong flexible magnetic panels so I can make a set of numbers that appeal to me.

Takumi788 03-19-2015 03:41 PM

I got the Maximal kit. Mocal sandwich plate, sterab core and a pretty sweet price.

Why do you need to maf scale with a drop in filter? I was under the assumption that was only done with aftermarket intakes.

I ordered my magnetic numbers from here and they turned out really nice.

Rescodna 03-19-2015 04:12 PM

Nice - that oil cooler kit has the same radiator as the Perrin kit and everything else at least looks very similar, but at a lower price.

Regarding MAF scaling with a stock intake, everything I've read says that you should be fine with off-the-shelf settings but each car is a little different so it doesn't hurt to dail it in using your particular car and filter combo. With the OFT off-the-shelf 1.X tune I was running last year I didn't have to adjust my MAF scaling at all (fuel trims were always within 1 or 2 %) but this will be my first time on the 2.X tune so I'll watch it and adjust as necessary. If I'm lucky, though, you'll be right and I won't have to make any changes.

Takumi788 03-19-2015 04:42 PM

We will have to discuss the OFT while at these events. I am very curious about this. I have done a little tune editing (no lift shift and launch control) but I would like to be more familiar with these adjustments and what to look for when data logging.
