another capable tire for our winters is the continental DWS which i run on my second car year around and used to run on my mazdaspeed3 in the winters. more than capable enough to get through an inch or two.

I too run Mich Pilot S.S., and when temps got down to mid-to-high 20's this winter... I ventured out on these tires just to see how they would hold up... and surprisingly.. they did OK considering the temperature. On some sections of roads that had a little icing.. there was the fun "breaking loose" sensation which some careful throttle/steering control (maybe even the rigs TC too) took care of.

So, I didn't end up getting a set of Blizzaks (which I run on my IS 300). Kind of a roll of the dice, but I had the IS to use as backup in case the Pilots didn't work out.

Anyway... bottom line.. not too bad in wet and cold... and of course.. superb in warmer temps (wet or dry).

Edit: BTW.. when it's below 35-40 deg. F.... it is pretty evident that the compound has hardened up on the Super Sports...
