Tires for the wet climate?
 

Hey guys.

Texas 86er here. I'll be moving to the Redmond area in coming months and I'm due for a new set of tires.

What are you guys using up there for traction in the wet?

Summer is just around the corner.
Get summer tires and pick up cheap winter tires mid summer when no one is looking for them.
Don't sweat the ride height you'll fit right in.

Depending on some of the roads. There's lots of hills. Be prepared to scraping.

I run Bridgestone RE-11a in all wheather except near freezing as they are basically the best non-R compound tire you can get and also work great in the wet.

I like my michelin pilot super sports, great in wet, phenomenal in dry, and then i run a winter tire on my stock wheels for the 2-4 months we see under 40 weather all time and the odd snow.

another capable tire for our winters is the continental DWS which i run on my second car year around and used to run on my mazdaspeed3 in the winters. more than capable enough to get through an inch or two.

as far as scraping, get used to it, lots of change in elevations in washington, you'll eventually learn what roads/parking lots to avoid.

Ditto this, PSS all year, however my commute is like 1.5 miles & I have access to other vehicles, I don't drive my BRZ on ice, but we get very little, PSS do fine in the rain if you run TC and don't hoon during downpours you will be gtg. Honestly I have a bigger issue with rainstorm visibility with the raked windshield than I do traction.

use wax or rain-x on your window, that visibility problem goes away. :)

I've been running the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2 for about 3-4 weeks now and they've been good in the few days of rain we've had. I gotta really work to get them loose when it's wet out.

For Street:
Michelin PSS or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 are all good options, A/S 3 has the upper hand when it comes to Wet and it's all season.. Although, PSS is great for wet, you cannot use them if there's any snow since they're summer tires..
People also seem to be happy with Conti DWS tires,

if you're planning to attend HPDEs, however, I would get something more robust like Yokohoma AD08R, Hankook RS3 (V1 or V2) or Bridgestone RE11As, since after couple laps Michelin PSS tires will become very greasy...

Smith Rock State Park. Just a few miles from Redmond. A desert. Would not be surprised if it is drier than Dallas accept for more snow in the winter. Buy summer tires and then snow tires when need be.

What about Dunlop Z2 for or neck of the woods fordaily and occasional track use or am I better off sticking with theSuper sports or getting the RE11A?

I don't have first hand experience with them but people like RS3s too, I would still get the RE11As and attend more track days where I can enjoy the car :)

MPSS is all you need

Seems to be its really between the RE11 and the MPSS, but the RE11 is more of a track tire than the MPSS.

Then there is the only one other contender, BFG Rivals that seem to be pretty well reviewed form a few but pooh pooh form a few others.

I am leaning towards the RE11 for an allrounder if I can find a good deal on them. Costco doesn't seem to carry them :(
