I tried and it felt like the same sound I was used to.. I didn't noticed anything other than the typical noise I expected.

Have you had this sound just after the downshift? I think I heard it once or twice a chattering type sound but I attributed it to a bad shift on my part, not exactly sure what triggered it.

I only get the grainy noise in 1st/2nd at low rpm because of the clutch thats used, if I am in any other gear and drop low enough I downshift out of habit, so I never heard it in 3rd.
Side note its all over the forum, should have just been a sticky by now that explains the expected noises so people won't repeatedly ask about them. Not saying this guy has the same noise, but it made me think about it. |

I agree that here should be a sticky thread with the list of all normal/expected noises. |
Yup during engine braking at low RPM in low gears is when I hear the grrrrrrrrrr....reminds me of metal rolling on sandy pavement. Usually in the parking lot at work and in my apartments because low speeds are required and as soon as I let off the gas and the engine starts to brake, the noise kicks in.
The setup, engine, and injection system are all new to me, so I have been paying serious attention to everything that happens from day 1, and usually research things I hear that I do not recognize. |

Please share any secrets to doing this efficiently with the least hassle =D |

I know why I have the sounds I have though, so I am not concerned. They used a clutch that is for stability and durability on a high revving engine, as a result, low rpm/low gear rolling, it sounds notchy. There's info about it all over the boards.

Just picked up my BRZ yesterday and today i just noticed that grainy/rattly type noise. It definitely sounded like it came from below the car like either below the engine or near the tranny. Im a little freaked out myself but keep telling myself that its a new car and that I've never owned a Subaru so I will just Keep Calm & Carry On.
