Nathan's Red FR-S

June 08, I went down to Sanford, Florida and bought my red FR-S! I had the dealer tint the windows and that was it. Drove about two hours back to Jacksonville... one of the smoothest rides I've had in a car for a long time.

Since then I've driven it everywhere to get groceries, some new suits from men's warehouse, and so on. Also went to a developing neighborhood (no houses, just roads and empty plots) and practiced a bit of drifting and such on some of the roads, all while shifting at 4k since she's still being broken in. It's quite easy to toss the body around and loosen up those rear tires. I can't maintain any decent drifts at the low RPMs, but I'm getting a good feeling for what the car can do.

Don't plan to do many mods besides some visuals, at least until I get to know the car better later on down the line. But, we'll see. ^.^

Update!

So I've done mostly autocross in my life with numerous cars. But now, with this car I've decided to attend a track event for the first time. I just got an email about one up in Georgia with Forged Performance. I'll be attending an Atlanta Motorsports park event... two day private event for 500 bucks :) 3 hours of track driving with instructors for novices, so I'm REALLY looking forward to it. I'll get to learn more about my car in its stock form. July 28-29, right after I get out of the military! Gonna be awesome.

Adding brakes!

New update. The track event is starting late next week, and to prepare I am having forged performance install new Stoptech brakes on my car.

They have a friend that has an FR-S who drove the car at the track a few times. The first time he went, instructors as well as himself drove the car all day for a couple of days. They experienced quite a bit of brake fade and by the end of the day the brakes were metal to metal. Therefore, it was highly recommended I put in uprated brake pads, rotors, lines and high-temp fluid.

I would rather install everything myself, since I'm more of a do-it-yourselfer, but considering I'll only have a couple days to install and test the brakes, I'd rather have them do it. I'll keep everyone updated on my thoughts of the car when I take it on the track, as well as (hopefully) some go-pro footage.

I'm going to do a full write up here soon, as soon as I upload the vidoes someplace. They're quite large so it'll take a while, but I'll try to get a couple of them up. In the meantime, look for my writeup here and in a new thread. I got a lot of thoughts about the car and racing in general, which I think people who want to get into it should read about.
