Brake Squeal

Did a search and couldn't find anything. Anyone else's car suffering for a brake squeal in light braking, usually when damp? I took mine into work and they cleaned the pads and lubed the slider pins, but couldn't find an issue with them, but it's still doing it.

Mine's been doing it since it got cold out. I think its just the cold weather.

In for real answers, though.

Yea I had a light squeal also I think it was due to the cold combined with road salt

For the last three weeks, my brakes have been squealing in the morning for the first few stop signs.

It's silent by the time reach a red light (60km/h).

My pads are getting low and will be changed in the spring.

Look into brake shims. The right ones can reduce brake noises.

It's somewhat nice to know it's not just me.

Mine started squealing during light braking right after I got new wheels put on a month or so ago. They didn't touch the brakes, so I'm just assuming it was a coincidence with the cold and salt around the same time. About 21k miles on mine.

I believe it's the cold weather for me. I have about 40K miles on my car but no track/autox days. I'll wait to see if the sound exist since we are expecting some descent temps next week.

It is just the cold weather. Happened to me for two years once the weather got below 20F, goes away once it gets above 40F. Changing the pads/rotors/fluid/lines made it go away permanently, but at the end of the day its just an annoying noise like the crickets, there's no mechanical issue.

The noise as disappeared now that the temps have gotten warmer around 40 today

Nice to know it's a normal thing. Thought my wheel bearings were breaking. Not the first time. I drove my first car until the front passenger fell off.
Believe it's a combination of cold and something else, maybe road salt or such. Gave my brakes a sub zero cleaning since the salt is so harsh. It was gone for a day or two but came back.

Yay, mine squeak too! It usually subsides after a little driving.

Mine squeal a little but stop after a little driving as well.
