LF: Coilovers for around $700

Looking for a used pair of coilovers, have a possibly blown strut plus its time I get coils anyways. Looking to spend around $700. Live in Saskatchewan Canada so I can cover shipping.

I'm waiting for the Tein Flex Z to come out. Should be Q2 this year. Should be under $1000 brand new. Probably perfrct for street use and occasional track.

DAEMANO 02-26-2015 03:01 PM

In that price range: Tein Flex Z, or ST Coilovers come to mind right away. If you want springs + struts then RCE Yellow + Koni inserts.

The soft springs with them make me worry about hard track use, I'll be drifting the car regularly at events, but also daily driving it unless I finish my SF5 Forester full STi swap (body & engine). I realize Q2 is relatively soon but I'm looking to buy by the end of next week

ST's are non damping adjusting, which I'll need to fine tune the setup for drifts and skids

Sorry, I would just replace the OEM but if I'm gonna spend money I'm gonna pick up some coilovers. Thanks for the offer though!

Well you're definitely not going to get anything worthwhile for $700 even used lol.

Love how the attitude around here is always wanting something for nothing. Try doubling your budget and MAYBE you might find something decent. Factor in the necessary LCA's too.

G'damn cheapskates smh!

Is it wrong to search? And quiet frankly people drift perfectly fine on BC coils, which are $1000 new so saying around $700 (includes above that) is not unreasonable for used. I know LCA are necessary.

How is trying to be smart with money and find a deal being a cheapskate? Its not like I'm asking people to bend over backwards for me.

Oh and while you mentioned attitudes... "smh" ironic hey, your the one 'hating'

hmong337 02-27-2015 02:29 AM

^dude, you're being unreasonable- used Chinese $700 coilovers that are "fully adjustable" and able to withstand the stresses of drifting. This thread/request is half as bad as the $350 coilover thread LOL (literally!). Then they'll be a "clunking noise from coilovers" thread shortly after once you subject them through abuse.

You got some solid replies. Try your luck in the members For Sale section. Sure, you may find a swinging deal. But at that price, you're looking at bottom tier products. The truth fucking sucks. Like I said earlier, double your budget for some quality gear or settle for used bottom line stuff that was never intended for hard racing/drifting abuse.

I'm sorry but I don't see that as unreasonable especially since I said my budget is not firm. A pair of BC Extreme Low with few miles was just sold here for $750 shipped. BC are track proven with the latest versions, sure they had a few issues with the first generation but that's been fixed.
More coilovers that are track proven and around this price used: Tein Street Basis, KSport Kontrol, ISC N1, Apexi N1, Stance Super Sport. All of those can be found for $950-$1050 new, so looking for around $700 used is not unreasonable. Obviously I'm not expecting someone to give me 50% off. I believe I previously mentioned my budget is not firm. I also mentioned if I don't find any I'll just go buy new coils?
I do understand your input, as well I do understand how it can come across as unreasonable as it seems I'm shooting down the most common options for the price, however I'm not looking for new coils for that price, if nothing used shows up I'll just add to my price range and buy new.

I bought one year old BC coils with swift spring upgrades for $700, its a realistic price. Just gotta find the right deal, good luck

I got used ST coilovers(10k miles). If you want a stiff ride that holds the car in place this is great for you. I DD my car and it's smooth enough for me not to complain but handles so well on the turns. If you're interested PM me and we can work something out near your budget.

motorsports3 03-02-2015 09:23 PM

I also have some slightly used ST coilovers I could sell I sm parting out my car and sending it back to stock. PM me an offer and we can work something out.

I have a set of brand new Tein Street Flex, not that price range but if you are interested I will make you a good deal including the shipping to CA
