Is it worth buying aftrmarket parts for the frs?

Esp. with the dollar here in Canada......dam expensive. Love the car the way it sits now. Wouldnt mind gettting hids..rims...etc....but is it worth it?
For a regular Joe thats scrimping and saving.....is the outcome really worth it? I struggle with this as Im a cheap bastard..lol

No

Modding only makes sense for personal enjoyment. Presumably you have some sort of budget, so mods would come from your entertainment/amusement/whatever category. You will probably find that it costs a lot to get a little with mods. Also, serious mods like power adders and so forth will hurt the value of the car, which you'll need to budget as well.

Worth it if you want it. Not worth it if you don't!
I, for one, despise the sound of the stock exhaust so it is "worth it" in my eyes to change it.
This is really an unanswerable question since it is totally subjective.

Modding is Ok

If you take care of all your other responsibilities first. Shame to get a new exhaust and not be able to put your child into their favorite pastime. But yes this is a very subjective and is based on personal preference as you see, I rather enjoy it as I don't have any other vices.

Set a limit, stay within it

subjective yes.. if your well off then no big deal. usually the most valued buys are the ones you scraped for.....maybe not now for me but when I was younger

what exhaust did you get Tcoat? review? Actually thats one of the only mods I am thinking. I live in a condo. Still looking for a mild exhaust at low rpm to not piss off the heighboors..with a meaty sound when revved........choices choices..lol

If your going to keep the car forever or a long time and enjoy modding than yes, do it. If your not going to keep the car for long or if the car makes you happy as it is keep it stock and enjoy it.

The main thing is, don't mod for the sake of modding because you see others do it.

Drive the car, once something seems to annoy you or you want an improvement than go for it!

It's what I'm doing. I'm really taking it slow and only changing things once i feel like it's time.

I got lucky and my car was the showroom car for all the available dealer add ons including the TRD parts. It had the TRD exhaust, filter, sway bars, Scion spoiler, full tint, clear bra and RSR lowering springs on it already. I bargained most of it into the price of the car so it was actually "free" (I paid $1000 over sticker for $4000 worth of stuff.
The exhaust is almost perfect for my needs. Gives a great sound but no torches and pitchforks from the neighbours. It is however one of the pricier choices out there so not your best bet on a budget.

Don't even start, one thing leads to another and soon you will be thinking about how to sell you home and live cheaply to afford more and more parts...

D_Thissen 02-26-2015 12:23 PM

It only matters what you think. I think my favourite mods are JDM side markers and Toyota badges. They were inexpensive (I think it was <200 bucks) and changed the look of the car, IMO, drastically. Yes rims and exhaust are nice too but they cost significantly more lol.

As long as your other financial responsibilities are taken car of, do what with make you happy. YOLO ;)

Live cheap, ride fast :p

If you have to ask, then it's probably not for you. Mod because you want to, not because an Internet forum told you it's "worth it"
