Spec-D

Hey guys I have a quick question. I was looking at a new exhaust system for my FRS and found a Spec-D Cat-Back for $267 on CarID.

Is Spec-D a trustowrthy company and would you trust a system that cheap for a first time tune up??? :iono:

You will get what you pay for.

which is pipes....Only downside might be poor fitment

Another downside might be corrosion-sensitive steel.

also crappy welding, leading to failures under stress

+ poor construction
+ poor warranty
+ premature rusting
+ poor vendor support
+ etc

Following the logic of "just pipes", you can just go to a muffler shop and have pipes welded together for less than $200...

you sure can! Also, can replace the $200 ebay special exhaust with another one, or two, or three for the same price as buying that "quality brand". I have always bought replicas for all of my cars and never once had an issue other than fitment problems on one.

I have the spec-d catback exhaust. Fitment is awful and frustrates me everything I look at the back of my car. Spend a bit more money, get a more quality product.

Edit: that's the exact exhaust I have. Take a pass. It doesn't sound great, and if you care about how your exhaust sits in your bumper, have fun trying to line it up so that the pipes are even.

Double edit: You reminded me about how much i hate my exhaust. Just ordered a Tomei Expreme Ti 60R

Honestly just get a Berktrchnology muffler delete. Single or duel outlet both sound great. I chose single outlet with polished tip. Sound great, crazy light compared to oem, figment is great and only a hint of drone from 2200-2500 rpms, really easy to avoid that range. Also dirt cheap since it's just a pipe with a tip.

sounds good looks good...lets see if it holds up

I'd go for a muffler delete style axle back first. Not going to break the bank, and you'll get the better sound that you desire. Then later you can change other components to suit your needs.

Needs a bigger, more funnel-like tip. That whole system is less than half the price of some others. Must be a reason.

The fact that it's THAT cheap would make me stay away.

personnaly, i would not try it. but if you are willing, please make a review after install.
