Any way to convert from 5x100 to a more common size?
 

I'm not interested in hub conversions. But I am not really happy with the 5x100 wheel selection. At a minimum I'll end up with 17x8.5 but would prefer 9s. I personally don't want to run rotas, and I don't want to pay exorbitant custom wheel prices.

Is there any chance the wrx hub can be retro fitted? If so, what about the axles?

Are there any oer options?

I'd wait if I were you. Rays and Enkei are already making a wider selection for 5x100 because of this car, and I'm fairly sure others are doing the same.

wrx's use 5x100 as well...only suby that has 5x114 is the sti

Maybe I'll change the question. Anyone in the Orange County, CA area that has STi hubs? I'll bring my car by and we can see if there is a compatible swap.

Didn't some company find out the sti hub bolts right on?

Oh man, i hope so-- i was looking at RPF1s for my Celica. But if new wheels in my bolt pattern are coming out, then it's a good thing i can't currently afford to change wheels. I'll get to see a bunch of new styles coming out.

I'd say there's a very small chance awd sti hubs bolt onto a rwd frs knuckle. The front would be the main concern

I've been doing some research and here is my take on a conversion:

Front: not going to happen without a custom upright. 370z parts come to mind for a hub/bearing, but the centerbore is larger (66 vs 56mm). I suppose an STi front bearing/hub could be used if a stub was bolted through to hold the bearing and hub together. The wheel speed sensor is another issue. I'm not quite sure how it works on the BRZ up front. It's built into the z hub which is another plus for that route, assuming the stock sensor could be made to work with it.

Another thing to note is that the conversion would not work with the stock brakes. The hat won't clear the hub. There are rotors that fit but they will interfere with the 2-pot caliper. So at a minimum Subaru 4-pots would be required along with fairly expensive group n rally rotors.


Rear: STI parts should work. I am not completely sure the sti hub and bearing will bolt into the upright but I'd say it is likely. If not the upright would have to be changed too, but at least those parts exist. The problem I see is that the spline count is probably going to be different and the axles won't fit into an sti bearing. That means some sort of a hybrid axle is going to have to get made because I doubt the sti parts will fit into the toyota rear diff, assuming they are the right length.


Thankfully the car is pretty light and probably won't destroy bearings on a track like the 5x100 wrx, so unless it's going to be a race car on slicks just deal with the 5x100 pattern. There are plenty of wheels out there for it.

Just buy a simple PCD converter. In particular, look into the ones from the JDM brand Project Kics.

Rear STi hub bearing will work. Front, no solution yet.

They do for sure? STI bearing bolts into the stock upright and the stock axles fit into the hub? That is very good to know because I was only about 70% sure on that.

Yea greddy (im pretty sure it was greddy) found that out when they did their mods.
