Other twins

So we call our cars twins but they really could be called triplets, BRZ/FRS/GT86. Over the recent past automotive history what others have been produced? I'm talking about trim differences, maybe some interior or even body panels are different but not as extreme as platform sharing creating essentially different cars like Cutlass/Grand Prix/Monte Carlo/Skylark/Chevelle.

Honda Passport/Isuzu Rodeo, Chevy Suburban/GMC Yukon XL/Caddy Escalade EXT, Subaru WRX/Saab 9.2X, Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky.

There have to be more...

Archavious 02-24-2015 07:34 AM

Dodge Stealth/Mitsubishi GTO

loading_please_wait 02-24-2015 07:37 AM

Eagle Talon / Mitsubishi Eclipse

Foobar 02-24-2015 08:31 AM

Mitsu Mirage/Dodge Colt
GMC Envoy/Chevy Trailblazer
Pontiac Transport/Olds Silhouette

Add Plymouth Laser to the DSM set.

If we include cross regional twins, a bunch can be included, but I suspect that's not what you had in mind as those are basically the same car branded for its own domestic market.

Just about every Chev, Pontiac, Olds and Buick made between 1950 and when they stopped making each model line.

Same for Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth.

And Ford and Merc!

pinski 02-24-2015 10:57 AM

Toyota Matrix / Pontiac Vibe
Isuzu Rodeo / Honda Passport
Isuzu Trooper / Acura SLX
Honda Odyssey / Isuzu Oasis
Chrysler T&C / Dodge Caravan / Plymouth Voyager / VW Routan
Ford Mustang / Mercury Capri / Mercury Cougar
Ford Thunderbird / Mercury Cougar
Chevy Camaro / Pontiac Firebird

Lots of twins and triplets over the years!

Rampage 02-24-2015 10:58 AM

Camaro/Firebird
Cavalier/Sunfire
Geo Prism/Toyota Corolla
Geo Tracker/Suzuki Sidekick

Lots of them.

kinda splitting hairs here, but the wrx/saab 9.2x wasn't a true twin. Huge differences in shell and trim. The only shared was the drivetrain (and chassis?)

I think you're correct. Just a Rex with different sheet metal.

Mazda B trucks and Ford Ranger
All the USDM makers re-badging small imports in the 70s and 80s

That's what happened to Detroit.
No, we don't want to make sensible cars here to keep the country going.
We build pig barges! Always have, and always will!

Don't forget ALL of the australian versions of Ford/Chevy cars.
