warranty information

Hi guys I'm looking at my warranty information booklet cause I wanted to find out what date my warranty started and it's stated that's it's in the "new vehicle information statement"

Well i looked in my n.v.i.s. and it's nowhere to be found ..I can't find any in service date either

I've even looked at the sale contract and it's not anywhere there

I bought the frs new and I live in canada if that helps

The only reason I want to know what date my warranty started it's cause it's stated in the manual that the warranty date might be earlier than the date of sale

So I'd like to know how much earlier

Thanks

Good question...I always thought it was the day you took delivery. Maybe not?

That's what I thought also but upon reading my warranty booklet it states otherwise

Any toyota/scion/subaru salesmen in the forums ? Lol

Call corporate if you really want to know the exact date, but your warranty starts on the date you take delivery of the car.

Quote:

When Warranty Begins
The warranty period begins on the
vehicle’s in-service date, which is the
first date the vehicle is either delivered
to an ultimate purchaser, leased, or
used as a company car or
demonstrator.

Warranty starts the day you paid and signed for the car. Not always the date you drive off the lot.

Ex: Paid and signed for car Dec 1. Dealer needed time for check to clear. Pick up car and drive off lot Dec 10. Warranty start date is Dec 1.

I had this happen on my previous car.

If you buy a car that has several hundred km/miles on the odometer, and it was plated by the dealership, the "in service" date will likely be many weeks or months before you purchased the vehicle. In this case, the warranty start date will likely be before you purchased the vehicle. I would say that you should receive some consideration for buying a vehicle that isn't NEW, even though it is likely sold as a new car.

No.. it says in plain english that the "In Service" date starts to roll once the vehicle is delivered to the ultimate purchaser. Thus, if they offer you a standard 36k b2b/60k drivetrain warranty and you sign for the vehicle, the warranty begins to roll on that mileage and date going forward.

Example: Vehicle has 420 miles on it from test drives. Person goes to buy car. Signs & drives on that day. The warranty begins at 420 miles, and will extend to 36,420 miles for bumper-to-bumper, 60,420 miles drivetrain.

Alright guys I just called my salesman and he did confirm that the warranty begins the day you take delivery of the car.

In my case my delivery date as stated in my sale contract is "august 19 2013"

So it's the delivery date that is written in the contract

Thanks to everyone for the inputs

Now we wait and see how many people continue to respond even though you have the real answer! That is always fun to watch.
