Got stuck in the snow today.

So i went to work this morning with absolutely no snow. And hour at work the snow starts to come down and by 3 pm it's 5 or 6 inches deep. I got stuck tryna get home. I took the traction control off and and engaged the sport mode so I can try to get out of some spots. Can you mess your differential and manual transmission up revving excessively on and off of traction control? It would make deep clunking sounds it seem from the differential or transmission. Can anyone give me some input on this subject.

Have '13 auto BRZ...I have had to do that last week to get moving in the snow (was 4 inches at the time). Spinning wheels/ turning traction control off/ crazy clicking sounds from the front. Also, have had to do this over the last 3 winters each time it snows getting up our driveway since it has an incline.

Car has been fine after each episode so no signs of damage yet.

There is nowhere in Maryland that got 5 feet of snow today, let alone in a few hours. You need to lay off the drugs boy.

All the sounds are from a combination of fuel cutoff and brake application from the TC and DSC.
If it snows and you're running summer tires, I recommend you leave it at home or work.

I don't think I've ever had anyone tell me that what I was seeing was wrong thru the Internet. Your prob in Waldorf or la plata or something but it's preeetttyyyy white down here. But it's prob just like the acid and the Molly or something. Your absolutely right. I do indeed need to stay of these non existent drugs I'm taking.

Yeah, I really urge anyone just to spend a day getting back home alive through alternative transport and swear the whole time along the way than dead. Well, not dead but some injury that lasts more than a day. Really doesn't take that much to cause injury and damage.
Few days ago, dude in front of me missed his braking point and popped out of the major intersection by just 1 foot and another guy caught him, totaled both cars.

Maybe I wasn't clear enough. Not today, nor any other day in the history of weather record keeping on the North American continent going back to the 1600s, has there been 5 feet of snow in a single day in the area that is now called the state of Maryland. Never.

But you go right on living in your fantasy world if you want, pal.

Wow that's crazy. Hope it wasn't an 86 owner. But either way it sucks. I'll have my winters ready by next year. I prob won't drive my car next time snow is in the forecast

Snow tires and traction off and you can plow the roads with these cars! Yes, they can make some weir ass noises but all id good. I have driven down roads with 14 + inches of untouched snow and had zero issues. Doubt I would have got out of my laneway on summers though.
And yes, on place can have a pile of snow and someplace 10 minutes away. I see it all the time on my 2 hour commute smack between all the Great Lakes.

Second this.

I only have trouble in snow if its deep enough for the car to high-center.

The ice in Halifax now has me hoping I don't rip off both bumpers and my exhaust though.

I think you need to understand the difference between feet and inches...
