Both of these are mounted on a 7" rim for this photo... over an inch in tread width difference and 1/2" in section width.

I didn't go with the 225 RS3 because it would offer no more realistic tread width, and weighs 3lbs more per tire due to it being an XL load rating. I've got a friend going with the 235 star specs, so we'll see who all ends up right with these street tires (in relation to autox)

Interested to know how much better it handles man.

Exactly the same but with lots and lots more grip. Can still oversteer in the corner with throttle but turn in is more sharp and launches don't spin the tires for near as long before hookup.

Will be autoxing it next week.

wait you didnt go with rs3s?

Jordo! 06-09-2012 09:01 PM

^^^ He went with 215's not 225's.

Beautiful FR-S, awesome wheels and excellent sticky tires -- can't go wrong with RS3's from what I've read. Just be sure to get them heated up first.

I recall that the 15" traklites were under 11 lbs -- what do the 17's weigh?

MTeator 06-09-2012 09:08 PM

The stamp on them says 6.5 kgs. I weighed them as 14.3 lbs, but don't know how good the scale is

Ummm... Tire Rack says 22 lbs for the R-S3 in 215/45x17. I have no idea where they get their information from.
