Good on you Toyota Australia, excellent customer service.

For those who argue about the steering, you obviously has not own an 86, if you do, just try to turn your car off then try to turn the steering wheel to see if you can make the full circle.

For anyone having similar issue and cannot get the local dealer to agree to fix the problem, I would highly recommend to contact Toyota for the nation rather than the local dealer, they operate independently and will not go the extra mile for your Warranty services. The local dealer was going to send the car back to me as it because they could not replicate the fault.

There may or may not be anything wrong with the servo but you definitely need to get up off of that couch.

I'm 50. It's amazing I didn't kill myself or God forbid, someone else with the stupid shit I did as a kid/young adult.

Which, BTW, has nothing to do with OP's need to grow a pair - just so we're clear on that.

Maybe you need to hit the gym...

Also, you said something about a full circle, what were you trying to do? A U-turn or a switchback? Seriously something doesn't add up here, but good on Toyota for taking care of the issue.

Just wait until it happen to you then you have your say...if you have not been there then don't comments!

I am just letting the community know the issue and how series it could be.

Have you even read the responses in your thread? Not a single one in agreement with you. How do you explain that? Did you even try my suggestion?

I wouldn't careless if you agree or not, just look at this this link and you will see how many people died of loosing power steering. I am sure some of them would went to the Gym. Most if not all people disagreed here do not own an 86 so how would they know...

Power steering died when I was on the Freeway

Op that's a steering lock down, electrical problem of some sort. It happened once on me when my RAV4 battery decide to spil some acids, but lost of power steering is not what cause it & what u felt. Because u only need very little power to turn once the car is in motion....

I used to drive and eat while texting on my flip phone at the same time without power steering on my 89 Sentra SE beater my teacher sold to me for 600 buck. It's also the car I learn to drive on stick. LoL

What? 2 people aren't owners. WTF are you smoking?

I will ask again. Did you try my suggestion?

In our defense we were actually considering a formal analysis of OP's <ahem> issue.

....well, talking shit about considering it, at least.

I concur with Ultra!
Not a jacking in this case since totally on topic and relevant!
A "fishbone" is an analytical tool used to weigh all of the know factors and link them together in order to complete a formal root cause analysis.
I actually have some self imposed rules (surprise) and not jacking tech threads is one of them. May throw the occasional joke in but try to keep to topic.

I came in to work coasting the last quarter mile. It's amazing how much more feel you get from the road without that servo. I agree with Tcoat. It's still much nicer than hydraulic assist but wow, it's really nice without. I don't think it would have to be geared down much to make it perfectly usable without assist.

I'll let you know how serious this is... I've been noticing a small power steering issue with it cutting in/out at the track when I'm cornering, mostly in high speed sweepers. I've been able to somewhat replicate it with accuracy, it only happens on banked high-G turns for me.

When it cuts out, for a moment it feels like the steering rack locked up, but I can still steer and turn.

AGAIN: if it's a steering LOCK issue, it's a safety issue. If it's a steering rack BOOST/ASSIST issue, it is not a safety issue.

I can't believe my friends and I never thought of this! Clearly a missed opportunity in youth, although that was a bit more than 4 years ago...

Like legit it was really really bad what we would do because we were all gearheads and bear in mind I'm 20 and this is when we were just 16 and got our licenses. We would literally go as fast as we could through a neighborhood drop in neutral then turn the car off and make it through in "stealth mode". We would have parents picking up other kids yelling at us and stuff the entire time, we did other stupid shit too like trays under our back tires we stole from the cafeteria and stuff but I thought in hind site that the "stealth mode" thing was the most reckless and stupid thing we did.

Ur high school must be amazing, the stupidest thing I ever did was cramming 9 guys into 1 Corolla...
