Thank you
I just wanted to say a quick thank you to the people on this forum.
I still don't have a BRZ yet as I have decided to hold off a little longer to better educate myself on working on vehicles, but also to save more money for a bigger downpayment and such. What I wanted to thank you all for was giving me the confidence to fix up my current car myself, with no prior experience working on cars. Just a few days ago, I (successfully) replaced by brake pads and rotors on my car and fixed one of the problems I had been having. I know that this is a minor repair and is pretty easy, but it gave me the confidence and showed me how enjoyable it can be to work on a vehicle. I'm going to continue fixing up my current car to a better condition that will have more resale value, then get my BRZ later on this year if all goes well. Thank you all. |
Good for you. While a brake job isn't the most complex task, it can be frustrating for someone with no experience. Just keep building from there and you'll be doing full engine swaps in no time (maybe a little bit of an exaggeration, but we can all dream!) My advice is to find someone who is very mechanically inclined, could be a friend, family member, neighbor, and just watch and help them. The quickest way to learn something is to do it and having someone to guide you through things is a big plus.

Hey, I see that you're driving a Versa. That was the car that I traded in for the BRZ, didn't really get much out of it in terms of trade-in since it was extensively modified and had 'scars' from poor decision making. The Versa definitely has a special place in my heart since it was the first car that I owned and learned the in and out of modifications on.

Good decision on keeping the Versa. I forget what you said in your original thread, but is it paid off yet? You can buy some 3M headlight polish that will take care of your headlight issues as well.
Heck, maybe you should just keep the Versa as a beater for when you need to haul some people around or for inclement weather. |

Going to try doing my own header and exhaust next.. I may end up inventing some entirely new swear words during that process. |

Figured since I'm gonna stick with it for a bit, may as well fix it up. |
