First Malfunction?

Today when I got out of the FR-S I noticed my drivers window was down just a tad (I didn't remember opening it)

So I got back in and left the door open, put the key in, turned the ignition on and hit the Auto up. Removed the key got out and closed the door.

After closing the door the window went down half way :mad0259:

Got back in and repeated. No problem. Works fine.

Tried to replicate to no repeated offense.

Anyone else have this problem?

I think I heard something about it being programmed to do something like this if it wasn't up all the way. It may have been "concerned" it was putting pressure on something else.

Possible, but... I raised the window with the door open. Then when I closed it, (which I didn't mention before) it went down as soon as the door closed. It did not try to close at all like normal, Just went half way down.

I supose I confused it in some way, but I was not happy about it's behavior.

It's the window position sensor that tripped something odd so it went down about 5 inches. Does this sound like that happened?

And then after a full open/close cycle while closed, it should reset itself again, correctly calibrating itself for full open/close and the venting position as well (about 1" down).

This also happens when battery terminal is pulled while the windows are partly open. Needing a full cycle again after it's connected to reset the position sensor.
It's part of safety mechanism for when something blocks the path of the window, like a hand or protruding luggage.

Not to worry! The windows go down when you close the door to allow air from the cabin to escape, they call them "simple shut windows".

Edit: Nevermind, I didn't read the "halfway down", that doesn't sound right.

Maybe it was too hot and the car was trying to keep itself cool

Sounds like the anti trap feature triggered. A lot of things can cause it. At the dealer I occasionally had to reteach the window settings. I wouldn't be too worried unless it starts doing it all the time.
