Subaru 6 cylinder swap

This is more of a though project, sorry if you were clicking to see it already done.

Couple ideas. Instead of using a massively expensive porsche flat 6, why not use one of the new subaru engines out of a tribeca, outback, legacy?

One thing, I imagine the engines are quite long, front to back. That said, that's my only input on this, and I'm damn interested. I love the H6 sound from the Legacy's, and would toy with the idea of adding gobs of torque doing this swap.

holy hell. That Perrin H6 build could be nasty if they ported and polished those heads and over sized the valves and did GT40R+

As shown in the speedhunters link, it is very possible with the newer 3.0. I want to say they are slightly shorter then the old 3.3 from the svx. They fit very snug into the gc body imprezas, I believe there is a bit more room length wise in the 86.

Now this is a swap I would be interested in...

Will bolt on? I mean no major cutting and custom mounting.

I really hate to be that guy, but... Is it really worth it?

Unless it is for the sake of being different?
I mean, if not what makes this make more sense than say an LS swap.

By all means go for it though, I'm a Porsche guy. I love H6s.

Exactly (also a Porsche guy!).

The H6 isn't going to make enough power to justify all the work for the swap. It'll be just as much wiring/plumbing work as an LS swap without anywhere near the power potential.
