JDL-Skunk 2-Mann-Delicious.....
6 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys
I have been wanting to write a review on my Full JDL System and Skunk 2 Intake and include pictures dyno graphs and my whole experience with Mann/Delicious aka "Will I AM" (he looks different from his band photo's). But instead because of job hunting taking up all my time (not to mention an Abarth to tune) I am going to stay brief and wax poetic about the slippery slope of NA tuning. Summary: keep it simple, get a header (I prefer catted), good tune (or great) intake and , save your thousands and get an axleback if you need to. My project is almost done, and my wife will probably start on her BRZ before I get going again on the FRS to finish it up, however my verdict is after spending LOTS on N/A stuff is this. Get a carb approved supercharger kit like Jackson and you will pay almost the same. That is going to be the advice I give my wife. I am glad I went the full stage two with 4 maps and all but performance vs dollar is another matter. $5500 buys you way more HP and still keeps you smog legal. Just my .02 Brief Review Mann's facility is the bomb...nuff said Skunk 2 Intake gets high marks for design and potential. GrimmSpeed is still the stock tune winner and felt like it made better TQ compared to the S2 which I feel made better top end. Both are my easy picks for best two intakes out there currently (planet earth pricing). JDL stuff is top notch and Jessie was very nice to work with. If you want a top end throaty monster that looks and sounds unique, buy it. Delicious, Bill is great and his tunes are very smooth and thorough (5+hrs on the dyno with nary a pee break) 4-maps now all on my cruise control stalk A couple pics.... 91 baseline auto (not my car..bone stock) 91 baseline before tune (my car) 93 Tune 100 Tune There are many factors to consider here (incl drag which goes up the longer you are on the dyno and heat up your tires, thus hurting your numbers) Fletch PS - Changed mid pipe back to stock because it was still a bit too loud for my taste (my taste likes pretty quiet exhausts), will lose some top end but perhaps gain a bit of torque. It sounds as bit softer now. It is posted in the for sale forums |
