Scratch Removal?

This is a repost for people who dont look in the subfourms.

Today I let my 1.5 year old son sit in the drivers seat while I cleaned out the car. Tonight I went for gas and noticed he left me a present. Scratches on the clear plastic in front of the tach. You can't feel them they are very light but a lot of them. can this be fixed somehow? Can I get a new plastic face?

here is a pic.

What about trying a plastic polish of some sort? Of course try it on a small area first.

Novus makes a great one (called 1-2-3, since it's 3 step process) but I am not sure of the compound that the dash uses.

I've had good luck with this. I'm looking forward to letting my 14 month old leave his mark on my BRZ, totally worth it.

I'd recommend Meguiars PlastX as well. I've had good success with it.

I don't think it's a face, it's the entire cluster panel if you want to replace just the face.

One of the threads somewhere around here shows pictures of the entire cluster being removed and exactly how to do it.

How about from now on we agree to never let anyone other than the owner into these cars? http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...lies/YFrOV.gif

An excellent product - have removed scratches in everything from the plastic rear window in my roadster to CD's and DVD's

Just so you guys know, you cannot "remove" a scratch which by definition is the result of material already having been removed. You can fill them or file the surrounding area down to match the newly lowered surface of the scratch.

You can't remove the grand canyon, but you can fill it in or level the state it resides in.

Sounds odd but ordinary plain toothpaste works as well.

Prevention is always better than cure. So I have already protect my car with surface protection tape to prevent scratch.

You can replace the plastic piece for under 30 bucks from the dealer. I had to due to some moron from the dealership and they said it was my fault. Replaced it myself and then filed a bad claim with them.
