plastic in front of tach
 

So I was cleaning the car out today. I let my boy sit in the drivers seat playing while I was doing my thing. Tonight went to gas up and I noticed all these scratches on the clear plastic in front of the tach ect.

Does anyone know if that can be cleaned off. I couldnt feel the scratches but I could not wipe them away either. Is that something I can fix with plastic scratch remover... Or can I even get a new plastic face for that?

My boy is only 1.5 so I can't get that mad at him.

Heres a picture of what I'm talking about. Its little baby nail scratches cant even feel them but I can see them

I've never really had the best luck with the plastic scratch removers. You might try taking it to a good detailer, sometimes they have magical methods.

Mothers mag and aluminum polish.

I've been using it for years to polish the crystal on my watches and all the clear plastics inside my cars, including scratched up radio face plates. A little bit on a soft cloth and a small amount of elbow grease and it works wonders (make sure to go in circles and move around to get things evenly smoothed.

I've always used kit scratch out and turtle wax chrome polish, any chrome polish should work. I've removed scratches from thousand dollar watches to rust off my shower bar to a deep ice scraper gouge in a car side window, thanks wife!

Polish it. Failing that, you can order it separately from Toyota/Subaru.

if you cant feel them with your fingers, chances are they are just scuffs. EASILY buffed out by hand in under 20 minutes with some Meguiars PlasticX. [ http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.do?q=4596 ]

I agree, don't go straight to a polish. Try the least aggressive method first. :happy0180:

I would probably try some sort of headlight restorer. I think it's called Plastic x or plastix by Mequiars. Something like that. It's a rubbing compound.
