Best bang for my buck?
Hello fellow 86rs.
The time has finally come to the point where I no longer have free oil changes. I was curious with which brand of oil you guys use, whats the best bang for my buck. When my car hit 1000 miles I changed the oil using mobile one, in my opinion it was a bit pricey (50 dollars for 7 quarts). I don't mind paying for a good product, just want to know what else is out there. |
7 dollars a quart isn't expensive. don't be cheap. its synthetic. bang for the buck, shop at walmart, they buy in volume so they have good prices.

Walmart sells 5quarts of mobil 1 for $26+tax.

+1 for Walmart. You can also get Royal Purple there for a bit more. The just go to your dealer and pick up a filter and crush washer for under $10. Also, get a Fomoto valve, it will save you time. |
Had an oil drain pan fail on me today :mad0260:
Anyone know a good brand for oil drain pan? |

Go to www.bobistheoilguy.com for more information than you'll know what to do with Oil does not add performance per se. Any 0W-20 oil will be fine for most cars for 5-7K miles oil change intervals because all 0W-20 oils are synthetic. Mobil 1 from Walmart is fine is probably what I will use when I run out of free changes. IIRC there is a thread on BITOG re 0W-20 oils and they say the Toyota oil is the best but only marginally so, so only worth it if you can get it for $5 a quart. |
