The (somewhat) Comprehensive Body Damage Full Repair and Price List Source

Why, you ask, do I have a price list of almost every exterior body part for an FR-S? Long story short, my car received MASSIVE hail damage in June 2014. The thread from when it happened is here:

Here I've got the pictures I took over the five weeks the car was being fixed. I wanted a picture of it with all the panels removed, but the body shop neglected to give me a heads up of when it was in that condition, so I'll start with the photos taken at the two week mark:

Then again at four weeks into the repairs...

And finally the morning of the second day after I got it back, after five weeks under the knife:

And yes, keen-eyed viewers, I did paint the insides of my factory headlights, and add a rear spoiler while the car was being fixed.
More to follow, but fewer pictures, the rest will be the cost of the various parts and body panels. It may be the most comprehensive list around...

How much were the total cost of repairs? It seems like it would be getting close to totaled. I know it cost $6800 to repair the damage on my car from when I hit a deer. I almost wish they would have just totaled mine.. :(

Pic for reference. Also it is hard to see all of the damage to the door, rocker panel, and quarter panel

Your car, ouch! Total cost to repair the hail damage was $15,100. They didn't total mine because it was under the damage-to-value threshold; Which was around $16K. I'd had the car less than 75 days and only put about 2,500 miles on it when the storm hit. That and the damage was all cosmetic, no structural repairs needed. Repairs to the rear bumper that was damaged later cost me about $850.

I was really on the fence about totaling the car. I drove a lot of nice/fast/tuner cars in the six months between the damage happening and the repairs starting. None of them (multiple STIs, Evo X, '15 WRX, Forester XT, Mini CooperS) gave me the same greatly pleasurable driving feeling as the FR-S. And as a bonus, I now have a two year old car with a show room new body finish, and only 6,800 miles on the odometer.

Glad to see you have yours back. And 5 weeks for that much work sounds pretty reasonable. My car was in the shop for almost 2 months.. And it was sloppy from the first day I picked it up. I had to take mine back 5 different times to get them to fix fitment issues, overspray, and a magical dent that appeared on my passenger side A pillar.. And to top it all of they didnt color match worth beans and you can really tell the drivers side of the car looks a lot different than the back bumper.

If the shop that I dealt with was half as good as yours I probably would be happy and wouldnt want the car totaled. But the whole experience has left a sour taste in my mouth and the car just doesnt feel and or look the same. :(

I got billed (well, insurance did) $2400 to fix a door dent the size of an iPhone 6+ lol. That's not a bad price.

Weasel Soup,

You have a GREAT attitude! Most here would have been crying about the damage to a new car or the carfax. You presented some nice photos and have a positive attitude. Good on you and happy motoring.

And probably more durable paint!

Not likely--I've had hail damage repaired, and its the same quality of paint.

Weasel, Did they replace the roof or just repair it?

EDIT: they did, apparently. Mine was just undented, filled and repainted. Something about cutting off the roof in order to replace it bothered me.

Just looking for an upside!

@Weasel Soup

Only time will tell the quality of the paint, but since the front bumper and quarter panels now have 2 coats the paint should be more durable. Right? :bellyroll:

Roofs get cut off of cars all the time for roll cages. And if done properly (at the factory spot welds) it shouldn't effect much structurally. Doing it that way is basically just replacing the skin.

Its my own one-off made using a 4" Magnaflo muffler that has 2.5" inlet and outlet diameters. I cut the factory setup where the pipe entered the "muffler" and welded from there, making my own hangers and exit piping. I can't decide if I want to finish the end where it exits the bumper with a fancy tip or just leave it as is.
