dealer 'special order' - meaning what?!
 

I placed a $500 deposit back on April 4 for a Subaru BRZ, from my local, small-town dealer. I think there was only one person who had placed an order at the dealership prior to mine. I asked my dealer recently if my order corresoponded to any vehicle already allocated to them. Their response was that mine is a 'special order', and I'm left to wonder a) what that means and b) whether I will be getting a car any time soon.

Does anyone have any knowledge of how orders are matched with vehicles arriving from Japan?

I am 2nd on the list at my dealer and won't be getting mine until early July. My dealer is getting 1 a month, so i'm sure yours is in a similar situation. I would think they could give you some sort of time frame though, not just say it's a "special order".

Ask for a VON or eta.

I think special order means they place the order and it's separate from the ones they're allocated. That's the thing I didn't get when my cousin ordered his Hot Lava Fr-s late last month. The dealership wouldn't tell us if they had one coming in, only that it'll come within a month.

The great thing about the salesman I worked with at Subaru, he looked up the tracker and found about ten+ Brz's coming this month and they had a limited in the color I wanted coming in in a few weeks. I reserved it in a heart beat.

On my paper work, there's a von, vin and a eta when it's going to arrive in the port 6/11 and the date it'll arrive at the dealership 6/28.
