Has anyone here successfully filed a Diminished Value claim?
 

Looking for people's experiences please.

I plan to file a diminished value claim on my car which was involved in an accident last week. A few questions I'd like to know is:

1. What insurance company did you file the claim against?

I hear different insurance providers use different methods, and some are easier/harder to file against.

2. Did you account for aftermarket parts?

Especially recently installed parts, how much of the parts value was used?

3. What documents did you present the insurance company?

I've gotten local similar car retail and trade-in values for 100% stock CPO cars. I'm guessing I need a written appraisal from an appraiser or perhaps a dealership showing what they would offer after the car's been in an accident? If 3rd party appraiser was used, who?

4. Did you have assistance of counsel?

Was your claim filed by an attorney that was handling your PI case (since very few will take on a DV-only claim)?

some small insurance company. cant remember name.

2. Did you account for aftermarket parts?

All aftermarket parts that were scratch or damaged were replaced with new but through their insurance.

3. What documents did you present the insurance company?

A third party appraiser came and went over the car. this was separate from insurance appraisal. I had to provide sales receipts or just links to parts that were on the car.

4. Did you have assistance of counsel?

yes an attorney filed claim along with PI. Appraiser came up with a diminished value of 8K. settled for 6K + PI.

Which appraiser was used?

i looked up my old email.

@aznatama Did you finish your claim? How did it go? I am about to do my own DV claim... And I would like to see if I could get some steps on what to do. PM me some details? :)
