The owner's manual has some basic explanations to get you started in understanding the vehicle dynamics systems:

VSC Sport mode is driving me nuts. I can't stand looking at both those idiot lights and then the flashy traction loss light never stops blinking..... can't imagine why.
But the slip percentage isn't quite enough in my opinion.

Then pushing the off button for 3-5 sec or however long it takes is also super annoying. One quick push for permanent off would've been nice.

I will look into something to make the situation better for myself once I have time.

I wish we could turn traction off and leave it in vsc sport... Like Ishii said, watching the light flash all the time is annoying and with it in sport it seems like if the rear end moves at all it steps in.

feldy 06-09-2012 10:50 PM

What I want to know is how do we turn off the smart stop tech. Where you put the foot in the brake then rev up. It wont allow it to rev past 2k rpms. spent all day autocrossing like that it sucked.

You ca thank Scion's lawyers for that.

imravenit 09-02-2012 09:16 PM

thats crap.. so if you want to drift and you turn both trac and vsc off and when u passed 31mph it will turn on again? not letting you slide?

EN2_Squirrel 09-02-2012 10:19 PM

at any speed, as i discovered the other day, shutting both the trac and vsc off is possible. if only the trac off then it will come back on after 31mph. having both off keeps both off. I dont bother with the sport car is easy enough to control as is.

you can turn just the traction control off and keep it off after 31 mph. from a dead stop press and hold the trac off button for 4-5 seconds. done.

You don't have to be at a stop. I turn if off on the fly all the time.

I do wish Sport mode would allow for greater slip angles. Is that something that could be altered with an ECU tune??

Yeah, don't have to be completely stopped, but also cannot be doing 60 mph on the highway. I don't know the exact limit but it has to be about 15 mph or less.

Perhaps it's programmed differently for Canada. I can hold the TC button down for five seconds at 120km/h and it will fully turn it off.

I might be mistaken as I tried it only once. :w00t:

RedLeader 09-03-2012 11:09 AM

I haven't tried it at 60, but up to 50mph, if you hold the trac button it'll shut the traction control off. What I haven't noticed yet is this: if you step on the brakes, does the engine drop RPM? I mean, can you left foot brake while keeping the engine RPM up, or does it automatically drop engine RPM as well?

Akired86 09-04-2012 12:17 AM

Turn off Traction Control (holding button for 3-5 sec) give you more power less ECU control more driver control, therefor should give you more power not less.

You will need to be more alert and aware of what you and the car are doing. I wouldn't suggest turning it off in the rain.

Some one Know what is the difference on HP between Sport and All Off?! ...

--- Sorry for Make too much Questions. I Like to know so much! xD

DelayedBRZ 01-02-2013 10:21 PM

It does not actually raise your horse power at all, it just provides the power to the wheels your right foot asks for. With all of the TCS and VSC in to on position it will fluctuate power to the wheel allowing the car to develop traction. With practice you can increase your 60 foot times quite a bit over the ECU controlled drivetrain.

It's very important to remember to only turn the driver aids off in a safe location. Without the aids you can find yourself in trouble real fast.

There is no difference in power between the modes, but when the assists are on, if you approach the limits if traction, if will back it off so you dont break the tires loose, and it will not do that with the controls off.

A5D5TRYR 01-02-2013 10:35 PM

I don't know if it's just me but I quickly pressed the TRAC Off button and nothing happened. If I hold it everything is off and if I press the VSC button it changes that to sport but I can' t seem to get the option to just turn of traction control. When I tried I was at a standstill so I don't think that was the problem.

Press both at the same time for 5 seconds. Proceed to spin out in the rain!

You only need to press the traction button and hold it for 5 seconds. No need to press and hold the VSC button too.

If you want to prevent it from automatically reengaging at 31mph, you must press and hold both.

Listen, if you are not use to driving a car with no traction control or stability control, don't do it. Don't turn anything off.

I don't wanna see an other wrecked FRS, i'm just going to leave it at this.

If you wanna turn it off, turn it off in a safe and empty location where no one else but you is present.

A5D5TRYR 01-02-2013 10:51 PM

Lol, I can get both off, which I don't do because I'm not that good of a driver and I would wreck my nice new car. But in the manual it says if you press the Trac Off button it will disable the TRAC system, if you press the VSC button it will put it in Sport mode and if you hold the TRAC Off button for 3 seconds it will disable everything.

For me Sport mode works and everything off works but I can't get it to just turn off the TRAC system. It just doesn't appear to do anything on a momentary press of the TRAC Off button. Anyone else experience this?

Mine doesn't reengage at 31mph as long as you press and hold long enough. Once both yellow lights activate, you know you've held it long enough and it will not reactivate. Again, only using the TCS button.

Don't make me take a video. ;)

Does it do anything for you if you just quickly press the TCS button?

bpracer 01-02-2013 11:26 PM

Yep, if i quickly press it, then it will reengage at 31, but if i press and hold just the TCS for 5 seconds it's fully disabled and does not reactivate.

That's not indefinitely, that's until you turn off the car.

You'll need to turn off the engine to turn TC and VSC back on.

Hmm... mine doesn't do that. I'll have to play with it more and beyond that I'll have to try and decide if I really care.

I'm just reiterating what's in the manual. Take a video of whatever you please, but have the decency to hold the phone the right way.
