Cool writeup! Glad I decided to keep my Tein Type Flex. It doesn't go as low, but it performs well IMO. Gives me peace of mind knowing I can have them rebuilt properly.

Is Tein not doing so well, sales wise? I got my Tein Type Flex during a blowout when they released the the cheaper Street Flex. I now see those on clearance everywhere as well.

Tein regularly refreshes their product lineup. Every time a newer, improved product comes out, older product is put on clearance to make way for the new model.

It's no different from say... Apple putting the last gen macbook on sale when a newer one comes out.

also, ive come across bits here and there in articles talking about the manufacturing plants here in japan manufacturing the valves in a new way, significantly cutting production costs. Ive noticed a general price drop in japanese coil overs over the last couple years.
