Limited more sound insulation than Premium?

I just read a post that had mentioned that the Limited has a bit more sound insulation than the Premium model. I hadn't seen that mentioned before in all the other threads about differences. I've searched on topics on sound insulation before but haven't seen it stated any difference between models.

Is there a difference?

not that i know of. what sound specifically? exhaust? outside road noise? speakers?

chaoskaze 01-27-2015 04:25 PM

It should be all the same, the 2015 or the blue series(I forget which) do have full body underbody panel so it's slightly quieter under "certain condition"? But I don't think it matters, cuz the car has almost zero sound insulation from factory.

Eski 01-27-2015 05:04 PM

correct. i have the blue series and i find it quieter than i expected.. looking to increase my exhaust pipe diameter to add more noise. but still no answer to my question, what do you mean by quieter? as in where..

Burrcold 01-27-2015 05:41 PM

No it does not.

Thanks guys. I was under the impression it was for noise reduction.

That was probably my post you are referring to, and it does in fact appear to come with some sound deadening. I say this based on the thread below. Someone pulled theirs apart and took pictures. If it's a hoax, by all means debunk it.

Took me forever to find that.. search function on this forum is awful. No wonder nobody uses it.

This is what I was going off of, not sure if it is true or not. He did post pics, would be a lot of trouble to go to just to disappoint some BRZ owners.

For All Who Are Looking To Add Sound Proofing To Your BRZ. Here Is What I Found So Far In The BRZ.

doors: From The Factory, there Are Two Pieces Of CLD On The Outer Door Skin. One By The Speaker, The Other By The Door Handle. Each piece Is About 6X6 Inches. (I Added Two 12X6 CLD Tiles Above The Crash Bar And One 6X6 Tile By The Speaker.) There Is Nothing On The Inner Door Skin. The Inner Door Skin Has A Lot Of Metal Folds In It Does not Resonate Much.(I Did Not Add Anything To It). TheTrim Panel Has Nothing On It. (i Added a Layer Of MLV, A Layer Of 3M Thinsulate Acoustic 1/4 Inch Thick. And Filled The Spaces In The Door Trim With Thinsulate.)

Front Seat Foot Wells: There Is What Looks To Be Sound And Heat Insulation Here. Closed Cell Foam, 1/8 inch MLV?, styrofoam, And Jute. As We All Know, There is Room For Improvement Here. (I Added A Layer Of MLV From As High on The Heat Shield As I Could Get All The Way To The Front Mounting Point Of The Front seats. The Same Layer Went Up The Sides Of The Footwell From The Center Counsel Trim To The Door Sill.)

I only skimmed that thread, but I'm not seeing where they draw a comparison between the various models. AFAIK, all models have the same amount of sound deadening/insulation.

You missed the title :)

BRZ limited has factory installed sound proofing

You are probably right though, even the title doesn't specify that the premium DOESN'T have sound proofing. Maybe I made an assumption. My apologies if it's not correct.

Stang70Fastback 01-27-2015 07:13 PM

Yeah, I think that's the issue. I don't think that guy was drawing a comparison. He probably shouldn't have said Limited though - I can see how that might be interpreted differently. I've NEVER heard of different trim levels of vehicles getting different proofing like that.
