Where can I find the ECU Software Version
Hey everyone. I just bought a 2013 FR-S with 30k miles in a nice hot lava color with a 6 speed manual transmission. The production date of the car is 09/12 (September 2012), and I have been reading a lot about the issue with early models about the injector seal failure and how it's apparently been linked to a bad factory tune. I have noticed that with the open flash tablet's website, they claim to have the upgraded factory tune as part of the handheld tuner's files which state that the injector seal tune is already incorporated in the tune. I am just wondering if anyone knows the date that the factory ecu's were updated, or if there is a way to find out based on the ECU part number to figure out if this has already been addressed for my car. I already took this to scion a day after I bought it and they ended up replacing my HIgh pressure fuel pump due to chirping. I also noticed that my cam plate is leaking which I'll be upgrading as well as my master cylinder which flexes, so I'll but installing a brace soon. Any help would be great as when I search on here I only find posts based on aftermarket tunes and not the stock tune. Thanks :-)

Couple of the related TSBs here. They give you the effective to VIN numbers. Part number won't help as it is a software tune. You should be able to pull the version number with the open flash though.
Odds are that since your car is still running these were done but since it is an early one it is worth getting it checked. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1378232133 http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attac...1&d=1386706237 |
Find someone with the Toyota Diagnostic cable and software, that or buy it yourself. The cables on Amazon are pretty cheap.

Thanks for that info. I'm looking at the two links and am a little unsure how to read the "product change effective date" since my VIN has a D where the E is. If this goes by alphabetical order in this spot, then it doesn't look like it was changed. Maybe I'm reading it wrong?

Thanks! I actually reread the PDF files for the TSB's and found out that if an update in the software has been done it would be on a sticker at the bottom drivers side of the inside of the hood. I can't check until it gets a little warmer since my windows do that de-initialization thing. Im hoping something was done.

For the Scion TSB they won't flash unless you have the idle instability and meet all the criteria. |
