Fuel injectors question.
Hey guys, i recently ordered the Vortech supercharger tuner kit. Also a dual oil catch can and some gauges blah blah.
My real question is do i need bigger injectors off the bat? I will probably continue running e85 like i currently am with flex fuel. Should i go ahead and order some 900cc injectors or what size if any? I looked all over the forums, maybe i was searching the wrong thing but i could not find any answers. That will depend on what your power goals are. If you plan to run E85 with the supercharger, then I would recommend upgrading the injectors. What kind of power are you shooting for? 900cc's might be a little overkill for a Vortech on E85.

I know with a lot of turbo kits they tune with 1000's, especially when runing E85.
From what I've learned, even though the injectors might be much larger than stock, they are still easier to tune with, even at lower power levels, and even on just gas (not E85). It seems that certain larger injectors work very well, even though they are bigger than "needed" the tuners are tuning with them with success. On my car, I knew I'd never run E85, and I switched to 550's and it caused a bunch of tuning issues because my ECU (Element Tuning Hydra) had been base mapped for 1000's. An expert will need to chime in, but I'd say that running 1000's would probably be what some tuners would recomend starting with if you plan to run E85. I'm no expert, so hopefully soemone who really knows tuning can answer this for you. |

Agreed. 1000's for a Vortech seems quite big. Not that it wouldn't work. Keep in mind, with the addition of the direct injection, you don't need quite as large of port injectors. We made 500whp on E85 with 770's on our turbo kit.

1000cc is overkill for the Vortech kit. I know some tuners (DeliciousTuning) have been able to use the stock DI and PI simultaneously for more flow.
I'm currently running 700cc which is more than enough. |
I'm using 700cc injectors for my vortech flex fuel setup running the 3.125 pulley. It would seem 1000ccs are overkill, but it really depends on your power goals though.

Although 1000 cc yes are large, rather have room from improvement then not. There are no disadvantages for getting ID 1000s. They are the most consistent injectors and that results in easier to tune. The walbro fuel pump kit is the best one available for our car, not a Chinese POS pump and again will provide you with lots of room for improvement in the future.

5000cc :D. Just kidding, I've seen very few people running 1000cc, it is an over kill.. but it works lol.
E85 burns more than pump gas (91-94), so if the kit comes with a lets say 500cc, go with 700cc. |
Alright sorry, kind of got side tracked and forgot about the post. So i did order the 1000CC and Walbro pump per my tuners advice. Maybe in the future i might swap out and get a turbo kit down the road.. So we shall see :) either way glad it was a quality choice, just a little excessive.

I heard there actually are 5000cc injectors... say everything was built to the max, crazy big turbo, think you'd ever need that? What's the biggest you'd need? For lower applications would a 1000cc work better/more efficiently than a 5000cc?
Don't know exactly what I'm gonna do, may do some crazy stuff down the road and wouldn't want to have to swap out again. |
