So a friend and I were driving eastbound on Ortega Highway (74) in Orange County, CA on December 30th. We were going hiking and it was a bit moist from rain. As we were about to round a corner, we see a tan G37 oversteering around our right hand corner, coming towards us westbound. She over-corrects, bounces off of the cement barrier that keeps cars from flying off of the cliff, and comes straight at my driver's door. She impacted hard, setting off both of my curtain airbags, and my passenger's top curtain. We were both totally okay miraculously, so we hopped out and assisted her until medics came (she had a broken hand).

My car has been officially totaled and her insurance is working with me to rectify it finally. Here's some cool pictures of my poor car.Attachment 101017Attachment 101018Attachment 101019Attachment 101020Attachment 101020Attachment 101021

That really sucks... Glad to see you walk away from that with both arms, legs and your head attached to your body.

These twins continue to amaze me with their safety restraint systems! Super safe!

People get overconfident in that road because the pavement is very smooth. But as you said, it can get damp in winter. Too much speed + moisture + low temps + downhill + rwd + 300HP + lead foot + woman ;) -> happy tail

I went for a cruise on the 27th or 28th, and got stuck for a good half an hour because of an accident in that very stretch. It looked like a rider went down and his motorcycle hit a car.

Edit: dibs on the grey JDM blanket

Man I was hoping for some NSFW and a medical bill.

This is what I'm most afraid when taking blind corners. It's just a matter of when somebody looses it. Glad you guy made it out alive.

dang...sketchy part of ortega right there, since the valley/ravine thing is right there.

Glad to see you're okay though

Not to mention there's likely to be a lot less grip on that smooth pavement, especially if it's fresh asphalt.

Oh man that sucks. Glad you're ok tho! Same road and almost same thing happened to me about a month ago. In my case the car hit the rail and crashed behind me, i stopped to help. Too many speeders on that road but i'm seeing more CHP officers patrolling it.

This was so sad. Sorry for your car. Glad everyone was alright. :(
