Feeler: New EcuTek Tuner in DFW

I wanted to see who would be interested in getting a tune on their EcuTek from PRT Performance? Steven Kan is the tuner and owner of the shop and I'm just trying to help him gauge the interest. He's an excellent tuner. Groups of people fly him out to tune all the time. But he doesn't want to spend the money on the license if he's going to end up losing money on it (which is reasonable from a business stand point).

He wants to get at least 10 cars in to tune if anyone is interested.

I've said this many times before. There aren't a lot of people I trust to touch my car, much less, work on or tune it.

***EDIT***

So Here's the breakdown as far as pricing for the first 10 people as per Steve. (This only applies to the first 10)

$350.00 EcuTek License
$350.00 Tune
$700.00 total

If you already have an EcuTek License and all you need is the tune
$450

Each additional map (using the same fuel) is an extra $50/map

Forced Induction +$100

(half deposit required once we get all 10)

***EDIT***

PM me for any other info.

I'll make a list of interested people:

1. @pleong **DEPOSIT RECEIVED**
2. @Fonzie517 **DEPOSIT RECEIVED**
3. @TKShu22 **DEPOSIT SENT DIRECTLY TO PRT**
4. @MokSpeed
5.
6. @willharp360 **DEPOSIT RECEIVED**
7. @Zan
8. @runnin_pilot
9. @1BadFA20 **DEPOSIT RECEIVED**

See, I'd be interested in some of the EcuTek features, but not a full out tune. See below:

@alucard7755 I'm not a tuner so I'm not sure how it would work exactly.. But I know you would have to pay for the license for sure

The only thing you'd save money on doing that is the tune time of the tuner. But then you'd be stuck with a rather poor base map, so it would make absolutely no sense to not get a full tune.

Ah, then yeah OFT might be your cheapest bet then. Note I'm saying that with absolutely no experience with OFT.

OFT would only work if you went STX or higher classing as CS does not allow any changes to the ecu for SCCA AutoX.

I would be somewhat interested, it would all depend on how experienced the tuner is with our cars and NA tunes. I am currently tuned by Delicious Tuning out of CA, not sure the tune could get much better than it already is.

I would be interested, but not in line to be one of the first 10 for him to experiment on

This isn't his first tune or anything.. He's tuned thousands of cars. Whether tuning on ecutek or motec, it's not that much different. He has the knowledge and skills to adapt and apply the same knowledge..

So usually most tuners usually charge around 300 for the actual license and then a fee for the tune. That is the reason our cars are fairly expensive to tune. Even adding something like just the RaceRoms would still be considered a tune and you would still need to purchase the actual license.

That is one of the reasons I really dont see it as cost effective for stock tunes.. but that is my individual thought, and not a representation of anything other then that.

I wish PRT and everyone the best of luck! Maybe start with a dyno day or something like that to get people coming to the shop and interested?

I don't know what the price will look like for this but keep in mind that an ECUTek license for the car is $300 and most off the shelf tunes are another $300. The license is required to tune the car. I would guess your looking at spending at least $600 if not more.
