New Names and Bold Bodies Coming to Scion in 2015

First-Ever Scion Sedan and Scion iM on the way
January 07, 2015
TORRANCE, Calif., (Jan. 7, 2015) – Like many others, Scion has a New Year’s Resolution to debut an all-new body by spring. And not surprisingly, all eyes will be on its backside as Scion will be adding its first-ever sedan to its line-up.

The new sedan will be introduced in April at the New York International Auto Show along with the all-new Scion iM. The iM is the official name for the production version of the iM Concept car shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Together, the two vehicles represent two of the three new models Scion will bring to market in the next three years aimed at independently minded 18-34 year olds. The trio will bring exciting options for Scion’s younger customers looking for vehicles to support both adventure and sensibility.

“With the iM hatchback and our first sedan, we’re inviting drivers to re-imagine what they can accomplish with a Scion,” said Scion Group Vice President Doug Murtha. “Both new models will stand out in the marketplace for their style and substance. I can confidently predict that 2015 will be an exciting year for Scion.”

Beyond the name, drivers can expect the production iM to carry forward some of the sporty looks and versatility displayed in the concept version. More details on both the production iM and sedan will be available in coming months. Information on the iM Concept is available at www.scion.com/iMConcept.

Not even remotely possible.

I do seem to recall that Toyota trademarked several names (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72981)
But they are all 2 letters and anyways, I think it will just be a Corolla-sized car, probably some European Toyota re branded as a Scion.

swarb 01-18-2015 08:49 PM

Nope. Unless new frs means family racing sedan.
Most likely a fwd tc looking sedan built on top of corolla or camry chassis.

They should bring over the Corolla Wagon. The "younger generation" that Scion is designed to appeal to doesn't have the same stigma against wagons as the older generation does. Just give it an aggressive bumper and you're good to go. A top of the line Corolla Wagon sells for about $19,000 USD new too, so Scion can still be the cheap Toyota brand.

Of course that'll never happen, but it's fun to imagine.

Maybe it'll be the Mark X.

For those saying not even possible, Scion has already confirmed it for projection year of 2017. They are just using the im as an additional vehicle, though both are based off the same chasis. My question is: is one version the hatchback and the other the sedan? (Think Subaru mentality)

As for that mark X, that's a goreous vehicle but I would see that more as a lexus market vehicle here in the US.

Where in that speculative article does it confirm anything about an FRS sedan????

"but other than confirmation of its unveiling, there is no additional information about the new sedan. It isn’t even clear if this four-door will be a rebadged Toyota product like many other Scion cars including the FR-S or a unique vehicle like the tC , which could possibly be the FR-S-based sedan we heard rumors of last year"

Dake 01-18-2015 09:52 PM

I think Celadrieles means the sedan will be made from the iM hatchback which has been confirmed to come as a Scion - not that an FR-S sedan has been confirmed.

Celadrielas 01-18-2015 09:59 PM

Linked the wrong claim. In the side panel of that article, there is this:

http://www.topspeed.com/cars/scion/2...-ar150610.html

which has the statement: "The conventional FR-S Sedan is expected to hit showrooms by mid-2016 with the hybrid variant featuring all-wheel-drive to arrive several months later. Compared to the FR-S coupe, the sedan will be 20 inches longer and 4 inches taller for improved interior room."

mid 2016 means it's likely to be a 2017 model year given the way NA does model years.

Still no good!
An unnamed "designer", no official statements from Toyota and stating there will be a convertible by last October all make it speculation at best and creative journalism at worst.
Until Toyota releases an official news release I don't believe a word of it!

Nope! He meant FRS.

FiRStsc10n 01-18-2015 10:21 PM

My guess is a rebadged Toyota Vios. Makes the most sense to me, different market than the iM (Auris) and Corolla to not steal sales. They even already have TRD goodies to offer.

Cliu91 01-18-2015 10:24 PM

Why the hell would you even want an FRS sedan... would be ugly as fuck.
