Broke my OFT, now what?!?
So it's been super cold lately and I always take my OFT inside when I'm not driving the car. Well almost always. I left the tablet in the car overnight by accident Friday of last week. Saturday I got up, and went to warm up the car to go to work. I keep my oft pluged in and mounted all the time to monitor temps and such. Anyway, as I am proceeding through the menus to reach the diagnostics page, I hear a 'snap' sound. SHIT. The digitizer glass under the screen broke, there's a crack all the way down the screen. LCD display is fine, no issues there, BUT I have ZERO input control. I can't even get through the menu to try to calibrate it, it is simply not responding to touch, stylus, etc. Now I'm freaking out, my factory tune is stuck on here, I don't have $500 for another one, I have a scheduled service coming up, and to top it all off, I haven't heard from Shiv since I emailed him LAST SUNDAY!!!! Some customer service..:mad0260:
Just my luck. I break something of dire importance. What do I do?! |
so exactly who's fault is this?
|
So you think it broke from being too cold?
I remember hearing @Shiv@Openflash offered another guy a new OFT at a lower cost when he broke his, which was pretty cool of him. That may be your best option. Also, you can get a stock tune file from the guys at Openflash I believe..I don't think they're "unique" besides the rom cal ID. Maybe give them a call instead of waiting for email. |
You get one for a discounted price. I remember it being decent too. Give them a call, they are busy as hell.

Uh oh spaghetti ooos

Dealer isn't going to go digging in your ECU to see if you are on the factory ROM just for scheduled maintenance. You would be lucky if they even do everything they say they will do.

Something about seeing the voice of reason makes me angry.

the stock tunes are not unique most of them posted on taxtrix thread link below. unless you have an engine related issue with your car the service guys are not going to check anything to do with ecu. i doubt they will even query engine obd codes unless the cel light is on or your complaining about something. even if they did the calid is same and their equipment will connect and read codes and they could even reflash it if necessary. they will just change oil and do their routine checks seem to remember the openflash guys did a replacement oft cheaper for somone else. |
